Our Specialty Marine Underwriting Department is seeking an Underwriting Technician to join our growing team in Howell, MI, Worcester, MA, and Itasca, IL. This is a Full-time, Non-Exempt role. This is a hybrid opportunity.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
Support Field underwriting units by providing technical support functions including basic account analysis, file documentation, and preparation of primarily renewals (but may include some new business). Other significant activities include running of underwriting reports, contacting agents for additional information and handling reporting form adjustments. The role allows Underwriters and UAs to focus on sales and underwriting of new and renewal business and provide a superior customer service experience to agents. Works with Operations Manager to facilitate continuous operational improvements.
IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL:
Review primarily renewal (may include new) business to ensure that proper documentation and data collection is in the file prior to referring to underwriters.
Diary, obtain, review, and determine necessary action for reporting form policies, including following up with agent for additional information.
Data entry including policy and endorsement issuance overflow in peak times and to keep skill set current.
Additionally, take on assignments to increase efficiency and improve service.
WHAT YOU NEED TO APPLY:
2 years of related insurance experience.
High school diploma with Associates Degree preferred.
Basic understanding of insurance concepts, practices, and procedures.
Functional knowledge of product offerings.
Analytical skills.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Attention to detail.
