Our Facilities Department is seeking a Sr Facilities Technician to join our growing team in our Worcester, MA location. This is a full time, non exempt role.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Sr. Facilities Technician is responsible for the overall employee comfort and impression of the work environment. As a knowledgeable and accommodating staff member, this position must anticipate customer needs and provide friendly, personalized service — exceeding expectations will be department hallmark. The Sr. Facilities Technician’s ability to inspect, repair and maintain the facility will have a direct impact on customer satisfaction. Sr. Facilities Technicians perform a wide variety of maintenance, custodial and other facilities related services focusing on the satisfaction of our internal customers. Facilities technicians also perform meeting and conference room setups, assist in furniture and apparatus relocation and assist with cleaning and shoveling snow and debris from entrances, sidewalks etc. To be successful, Sr. Facilities Technicians employees directly address all physical site needs and must have a working knowledge (but not proficiency) of all aspects of maintenance, repair and service; the ability to troubleshoot problems and take appropriate action; superior customer service skills; and a great attention to detail.
IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL:
Performs light maintenance and custodial duties
Operates commonly used types of hand and power tools and equipment
Hangs and/or replace light fixtures and light bulbs throughout the facility ( wall units, light fixtures, etc.) and directs overhead lighting to standards
Reports non-removable stains, damage concerns to the team lead immediately
Works / coordinates with outside vendors as required
Comply with all safety practices and procedures
Responds to emergency situations (fire, weather etc.)
Assist facilities department staff with other duties such as: facility projects, inspections, snow removal, minor renovations, etc.
Maintains reasonable stock of required supplies, light bulbs and paper products etc.
Organizes and maintains the storage areas
Perform preventative maintenance, light carpentry tasks, patching/painting, and installing office equipment/furniture
Performs routine laboring tasks to assist skilled tradespeople engaged in maintenance, repair or construction work using hand and electrical tools appropriate to craft, such as assisting with the dismantling, fabrication, alteration and construction of building structures and building systems
Assist with EH&S inspections and proper management of hazardous waste Event & conference room set-up
Responsible to coordinate meeting facilities including furniture arrangement, audio/visual equipment set-up and other supplies as requested
Assist in the movement and relocation of furniture and equipment
Assists other departments as requested, including moving furniture and unloading and storing supplies
Works with customers to ensure best room layout is selected for meeting Customer service
Respond timely and professionally to customer requests
Completes work orders within SLA completion time and receive customer satisfaction score at or above departmental standards
Completes and responds to maintenance work orders in a timely manner
Utilize Service Now to plan and complete customer requests and assigned PM work orders
Assists in setting up and dismantling special event equipment. Be attentive when walking through the facility, noticing and resolving or reporting issues
Works with customers who are not completely satisfied and rectifies any issues. Uses experience to propose changes to work processes / methodologies to prevent issues from reoccurring
Assists team lead by coordinating own work and work of co-workers to ensure work is consistently high quality and completed on time meeting customers’ expectations
Provides regular input to team lead on changes which will lead to greater efficiencies and / or customer satisfaction
WHAT YOU NEED TO APPLY:
1-2 years of experience within related field
Ability to work with minimal guidance
Basic computer skills
A mechanical aptitude and general skill knowledge in all areas of general structural and mechanical maintenance
Knowledge of safety practices and procedures
Ability to make general minor repairs of equipment and furniture
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers
Ability to deal tactfully with others
Ability to understand and apply the laws, rules, regulations, policies, procedures, specifications, standards and guidelines governing assigned unit activities
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Work hours may include days and evenings on weekdays and weekends
Ability to stand or walk for prolonged periods of time
Ability to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 100lbs) 25-50% of time.
Ability to climb and work on ladders and scaffolds
Physical stamina and endurance.
Manual dexterity Ability to operate a motor vehicle.
Ability to work cooperatively.
Ability to repeatedly bend, twist, stoop, kneel, crawl, squat ETC. for extended periods of time (25%-75% of time).
