Our Claims Data Science team is currently seeking a Sr. Infrastructure Cloud Engineer to join our growing team in a hybrid or remote work arrangement.
This is a full time, exempt role.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
At The Hanover, Infrastructure technologies continue to evolve, and we need to ensure we have a technically sound, innovative, and scalable plan to meet future demands. Our Claims Data Science team is seeking a highly motivated, innovative, and creative Infrastructure Cloud Engineer with Azure experience and a deep understanding of cloud architecture, operations, and security. The qualified candidate should have clear and extensive experience leading, implementing, and configuring Microsoft Azure cloud, resources, and services and will be influential in maturing Hanover’s cloud strategy for Claim.
Reporting to the Director of Claims Analysis and Insights, you will be an integral member of the Claims Data Science team as we continuously innovate and improve our capabilities to enable the acceleration of The Hanover’s journey to the cloud. You will be building, configuring, and maintaining Infrastructure and Azure Cloud Services across Claim incorporating emerging technologies and innovative solutions. The ideal candidate will have extensive hands-on experience with both on-premises and cloud technologies, as well as experience in promoting and coaching teams about cloud technologies.
IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL:
Oversee the proper implementation and integration of cloud-based applications and hands-on technical delivery of new services and capabilities within the Azure platform.
Adhere to Cloud Governance Standards that ensure cloud security, proper controls, and end-to-end automation of deployment, monitoring, and infrastructure management in the cloud environment.
Partner with architects, technology, and business stakeholders to define and implement capabilities and patterns for security, data, and operations in the cloud.
Partner with Application Teams and Solution Architects to identify issues and roadblocks well in advance of problems.
Collaborate with Team Members and the Technical Architects to define, mature, and roll-out designs, cloud standards, processes, and tools.
Stay informed of emerging cloud technologies and evaluates the value to the organization's operations.
Create Infrastructure as Code scripts and pipelines to automate deployment of resources in the Cloud.
Provide troubleshooting subject matter expertise during projects, initiatives, and incidents.
Identify and drive areas for gaining operational efficiency, especially in the areas of DevOps and automation.
Evaluate and recommend new technologies to solve business challenges and ensure environments remain current.
Implement cost management strategies by leveraging innovation and maximize service value to business.
Analyze industry, technology, and market trends to determine their potential impacts on the enterprise.
Analyze the current business and IT environment to detect critical deficiencies and recommends solutions for improvement.
Works closely with and supports strategic vendor and partner relationships.
WHAT YOU NEED TO APPLY:
Has in-depth knowledge of Azure services such as Azure Fabric, Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure SQL Database, and Azure DevOps.
Practical knowledge of configuring and implementing Azure resources and services.
Knowledge of Azure Core Platform (Compute, Storage, Networking, and Disaster Recovery).
Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC), CI/CD, or similar automation and orchestration technologies.
Experience in Azure Pricing, Savings Plans, and cost utilization.
Experience in Data Platforms (Azure Data Factory and Synapse) and Azure Web Apps a plus.
Experience managing Managed Services resources with offshore presence including the coordination and tracking of all deliverables.
Ability to work in a highly collaborative and highly matrixed, fast-paced, entrepreneurial, transparent, and flexible work environment.
Has in-depth knowledge of the technologies they are currently supporting and a proven willingness to stay knowledgeable about and introduce new technologies that would enhance our businesses.
Ability to build strong insightful relationships quickly; must have top-notch communication skills (oral and written); must be able to network effectively at all levels but especially at the executive and business partner level.
Strategic and insightful in their thinking, with good judgment, and an intuitive sense of where to look for opportunities to support the business from a technology standpoint.
Vendor management experience a plus.

TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIRED:
At least 5 years of experience in the deployment and migration of applications and services to the cloud
At least 5 years of experience implementing solutions using Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse, Azure SQL, Azure Data Lake, and Azure App Service to build robust data processing architectures
Experience in the design and automation of Infrastructure as a Service and Platform as a Service capability including virtual networks, virtual machines, cloud services, web sites, data services a plus
Strong understanding of data governance, security, and compliance requirements in a cloud environment
Experience working with cloud native monitoring and logging tools (Log Analytics, Azure Monitor, Azure Site Recovery, etc.)
Knowledge of containerization technologies like Docker and orchestration tools like Kubernetes
Proficient in Azure Active Directory (AAD)/ Entra ID for identity and access management and scripting languages such as PowerShell or Azure CLI for automation
Experience with creating, deploying, configuring, and scaling applications in Azure
Experience with designing high availability systems in Azure (fault domains, availability zones, regions)
Experience with automated provisioning of Dev/Test/Staging and Production environments using Infrastructure as a Code
BA/BS Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Computer Applications, or related field
Must be eligible to work in the US without requiring sponsorship now or in the future (ie. US citizen or green card holder)
