Our Facilities Department is currently seeking a Sr. Security Representative in our Worcester, MA location. This is a full time, non exempt role.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
This position plays a critical role in safety, security and customer service for the Hanover. This role provides first responder services for life safety emergencies, including medical emergencies, fire and other building evacuations, violent or potentially violent situations response, and unlawful or inappropriate conduct involving employees and others on Hanover premises or Hanover-controlled space. In addition, as the face of Hanover, it is imperative that this position contributes to a positive first impression of the company; therefore, exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills must be demonstrated at all times. This position interacts with employees at all levels of the organization as well as members of the general public. Ensuring the needs of the customer are met is of the utmost concern.
IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL:
Render first responder services for all emergencies: medical, unauthorized entry, life safety, evacuations, and unlawful acts; Perform random patrols to increase security awareness and presence in work environment; Provide access control, security and customer interface at fixed posts, to include lobby entry points and event-related assignments. Answer phone calls and document requests
Prepare written reports of incidents and use various computer applications for documentation of safety hazards, incidents and to communicate/escalate issues. Review, analyze and escalate open-source and subscription-based intelligence to help mitigate and report global threats to company property, employees, and partners.
Dispatching and coordinating response to incidents that occur on company premises, or at corporate events, using the appropriate communication methods. Responses may be to medical emergencies, burglar, fire, or duress alarms. Operators may be required to liaison with law enforcement, fire, or other public safety organizations related to emergencies on or near company property.
Act in a Team Lead capacity when required and provides direction as needed; Contribute ideas and suggestions in the development of training manuals, procedures, policies and training scenarios; Assist with field training of new employees.
WHAT YOU NEED TO APPLY:
Associate’s Degree or equivalent preferred
4 to 5 years of experience in a related field or area of specialization
5 years of experience demonstrating the application of interpersonal skills and performing in a responsible position
Demonstrated proficiency in the use of Alarm Monitoring, Access Control, Video Management, and Crisis Communication technology.
Knowledge of basic physical security techniques and principles, or the ability to acquire such knowledge through training
Technical knowledge of security infrastructure systems preferred
CPR and First Aid Certifications a plus – If not certified, must attain certifications within three months of employment and maintain current certifications throughout tenure in position
Must have strong judgment skills as well as quick decision-making abilities during emergency situations with the leadership skills to take ownership of the situation/decision.

Ability to gain a solid understanding of Hanover Insurance corporate structure, critical areas and functions of senior executives.

Strong verbal and written communication skills to include the ability to prepare clear, concise and articulate written incident reports and other documents
Ability to work and communicate easily with all levels within the organization
Ability to maintain poise and self-control under stress

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
Ability to work a rotating shift (up to 12 hours) to include day/night rotation, weekends and holidays
Ability to work in a fast-paced or stressful environment
Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time (8 to 12 hours)
Ability to climb and descend stairs
Ability to perform work tasks in adverse weather conditions
Ability to report to work in adverse weather conditions
Ability to operate a motor vehicle with clear driving record
