As the largest behavioral and developmental disability care center in Texas, The Harris Center provides care to over 90,000 people and has an annual budget of over $300 million.
As part of its mission to transform the lives of people with behavioral health and IDD needs in the third largest county in the United States, The Harris Center provides a full continuum of services at 80 different sites across Harris County. In addition, services are provided in more than 40 different languages as well as sign language in order to better serve what is one of the largest communities in the nation.

Oversees work involving compiling, reviewing, analyzing and evaluating financial data, and preparing reports for the County and State entities. Performs administrative, fiscal and supervisory duties in the Finance and Accounting area. The position is critical for financial accounting, grant accounting, financial reporting, etc.
Your Role in Action
- Provide oversight and direction to assigned staff
- Responsible for financial and grant accounting, treasury services, investments, financial reporting
- Prepare Monthly Financial Report for Board of Directors
- Prepare quarterly CARE reports submitted to DSHS and DADS
- Maintain chart of accounts and report structures within the financial reporting software
- Prepare monthly invoices for contracts with County and State agencies
- Prepare the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report
- Respond to requests from Center management, auditors and stakeholders
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Chief Financial Officer
- Ensure compliance with Agency policies and procedures, laws and regulations, and other requirements
- Ensures staff are producing desired results
- Reports are produced according to established timelines
- Maintain accurate date of the Agency’s financial position
What qualifications will you need:
- Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) or equivalent.
- CPA license preferred
- Minimum 7 years of Financial Management experience, preferably in Government and Healthcare along with some experience working in Texas Community Health Centers
- Knowledge of financial accounting, grant accounting, financial reporting, treasury services
- Strong leadership and accounting skills
- Requires core governmental accounting knowledge and skills
