The HARRIS CENTER is the state-designated Local Mental Health Authority and Local Intellectual and Developmental Disability (IDD) Authority serving Harris County, Texas. As the largest behavioral and developmental disability care center in Texas, The HARRIS CENTER provided care to over 80,000 people in fiscal year 2022 and has an annual budget of over $275 million.

Your Role In Action
- Preparing prescriptions.
- Pre-packing of supplies, generating reports, & maintaining appropriate inventory levels.
- Conducts monthly unit inspections where medications are dispensed, stored, and administered. Identifies and retrieves outdated supplies
- Order pharmaceuticals and supplies in a manner that optimizes cost and contract compliance.
- Compliant with agency educational and licensure requirements.
What qualifications you will need:
- High School Diploma or general education degree (GED).
Other Key Qualifications
- Pharmacy Technician I
- 3 years of related experience in working in a pharmacy as a Certified Pharmacy Technician required.
- Valid Texas Driver’s License required.
- Current Certified Pharmacy Technician License through the Texas State Board of Pharmacy
- The person must have well-developed interpersonal, organizational skills, be a team player with a desire to provide quality work.
- Possess strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be computer literate and able to use software effectively.
- Should also demonstrate a proficiency in Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong communication skills with ability to effectively converse and listen to others and construct clear and concise written communication.
- Ability to identify and offer solutions to resolve problems, using knowledge of the organization to identify helpful resources.
- Effective time management and organizational skills.
- Act consistent with all legal requirements relating to pharmacy technician practice, including Federal, State, and local laws and regulations.
- Refrain from any behavior that violates legal or professional ethical standards, including all criminal laws, Federal laws and agency regulations, and State laws and regulatory agency rules.
- Refrain from conduct that is threatening, intimidating, harassing, or deceptive when acting within a professional role.
- Maintain good standing with all applicable governmental or quasi-governmental agencies governing pharmacy technician practice.
