What You Will Do
- Promote a physically and emotionally safe environment, including conducting regular rounds and patient and property searches so patients can focus on managing their illnesses and disabilities to promote healing.
- Aid in basic patient care such as eating, bathing, dressing, and teaching and encouraging basic hygiene while observing patient progress to identify the need for additional services or changes in current treatment.
- Provide behavioral emergency assistance, such as patient restraint using approved agency curriculum or basic first aid when needed, as well as recognize and report homicidal or suicidal behaviors.
- Monitor and document behavior of patients in seclusion or on precautions.
- Performs duties (e.g. vital signs, specimen collection, etc.) as delegated by nursing personnel or assigned by a physician.
- Utilize Standard Precautions appropriately to prevent the spread of infection.
What qualifications you will need:
- High School Diploma or General Education Diploma.
- 1 year of direct care experience in psychiatric or behavioral healthcare environment preferred.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- Understanding of Standard Precautions and Infection Control Procedures.
- Knowledge of and the ability to apply Handle with Care Crisis Intervention Techniques (HWC III).
- Ability to coordinate patient care with treatment team.

- Your Workweek: Embrace a flexible workweek with 4 shifts per month, ensuring a healthy work-life balance. You will be required to work one weekend and one major holiday during the month, allowing you to enjoy quality time outside of work. Hourly Commitment: Your workload is limited to a maximum of 9–12-hour shifts per month, ensuring that you have ample time for rest and personal pursuits. We prioritize your well-being by capping the monthly working hours at 100.
- Your workplace: Your base will be at our Neuropsychiatric Location (1502 Ben Taub Loop) in Houston, TX.
- The environment:This position requires driving of Agency vehicle.
- Your interactions: Support consumers in their daily routines and activities, providing necessary care and assistance based on their age and developmental level.Carry out delegated tasks from registered nurses or assigned by licensed vocational nurses, such as monitoring vital signs, tracking fluid and food intake, and collecting specimens. Ensure a therapeutic environment is maintained, monitoring and addressing any factors that may impact consumers' well-being.
