The Alternatives Investment IT team within HIMCO is responsible for the development and maintenance of all business related applications and the related data environments supporting the business. This role requires you to develop and maintain a solid working knowledge of the investment management business, specializing in Private Equity, Private Placements, and Real Estate investing.

Your Responsibilities Will Include
This role will offer a hybrid work schedule with a mix of days working in the office from Hartford, CT. and from home.
As a condition of your employment for HIMCO, you will be required to affirm to HIMCO’s Code of Ethics and understand that you will be required to comply with the disclosure of accounts, holdings and pre-clearance of trades for the accounts of you and your household family members as more fully described in the Code of Ethics Key Points. If you will be deemed to be a “Covered Associate” under HIMCO’s Pay to Play Policy, you will also need to disclose all political contributions that you have given within the past 2 calendar years.
Compensation
The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
$87,200 - $130,800

Your Responsibilities Will Include
- Develop and maintain a solid working knowledge of the HIMCO Alternatives investment strategies and business processes.
- Participate on assignments and projects, clarifying business requirements, performing application development and modification activities, as well as related maintenance and support.
- Participate in planning sessions with clients, business analysts, and team members to analyze business requirements. Engage in client interaction.
- Assist with the translation of business and technical requirements into application modules.
- Utilize programming languages and software technology, fully understanding and applying disciplined software development processes.
- Assist with the development or modification of software application modules, following instructions, and using disciplined software development processes.
- Apply quality assurance principles and processes, ensure application meets needs of client and business, and test and implement application modules that have been developed or modified.
- Provide ongoing maintenance of applications or tools.
- Handle support issues within area of expertise.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related discipline from an accredited college or university.
- 3-5 years’ experience developing systems with .NET, C# and solid understanding of SQL and relational databases.
- Demonstrated experience with software development, testing, and quality assurance methodologies.
- Must be able to communicate with business users in non-technical terms and communicate the impacts of system changes to business partners.
- Demonstrated ability to develop effective relationships with peers and work as part of a high performing and aggressive team.
- Effective listener, who can give timely and constructive feedback. Is willing to state opinions assertively and deals constructively with conflict situations.
- Analytical approach with a strong ability to uncover and resolve problems and deliver innovative approaches and solutions.
- Ability to set and manage priorities effectively in a dynamic organization while providing reliable estimates for project tasks and delivering upon committed dates.
- Experience with business intelligence platforms like Power BI or Tableau.
- Experience in consuming and writing RESTful APIs.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS or Azure.
