The Role …
We are seeking a resourceful and ambitious Controls Engineer dedicated to enhancing the efficiency and automation of our production systems to join our team. In this role, you will manage the setup, development, programming, testing, implementation and troubleshooting of PLC control systems used in production automation. You will be responsible for executing the development and implementation of a strategic approach to improve productivity, ensuring you are putting effective methods in to action, while enhancing our best practices currently in place.
This position is located at our Pleasant Plain, OH manufacturing facility. Local applicants are preferred for this position; no relocation reimbursement will be provided for applicants outside of the Greater Cincinnati area.
Your Responsibilities …
- Develop machine programming to meet specified performance benchmarks
- Design, develop, and supervise all electrical control systems, equipment, and machinery
- Increase production efficiency by evaluating performance and proposing/implementing improvements
- Perform research, design and development of manufacturing processes including production flow, assembly methods and production equipment
- Conduct factory acceptance tests to verify new equipment functionality
- Install and provide technical support of PLC based hardware and software
- Oversee the diagnosis of machine malfunctions and identification of root causes
- Offer technical expertise and project management support for continuous improvement initiatives, driving efficiency and process enhancements
- Provide guidance and support to the maintenance team in ensuring that all mechanical and electrical systems within the facility are properly maintained and operate safely
- Develop programs and projects to increase overall safety, quality, service level, efficiency, waste reduction and spending
- Modify and improve control programs as needed
- Identify equipment needs and recommend necessary upgrades
- Order replacement parts, including drives and PLCs as needed
- Train and upskill mechanics on equipment controls and programming
Requirements
You’ll Need …
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering with 1- year experience in a high-speed production environment, preferably within Consumer-Packaged Goods (CPG), Pharmaceutical, or a related industry
- Experience: In lieu of a degree, must have a minimum of 4 years’ experience working as an Engineer in a high-speed production environment, preferably within Consumer-Packaged Goods (CPG), Pharmaceutical, or a related industry
- Software Proficiency: Proficient in Rockwell programming software
- Preferred Software Experience: Prior working experience programming, modifying, and implementing Fanuc robotics and iR Vision software is highly preferred
- Teamwork: Ability to work independently, take initiative, and provide guidance and support to team members when needed
- Organizational Skills: Strong multitasking abilities with keen attention to detail to ensure accuracy and efficiency across tasks
- Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in Excel, Word and Power point skills
- Business Travel: Ability and willingness to travel occasionally to manufacturing sites, customer facilities, and training events as needed (domestic and international)
