Haskell's Design & Consulting Team unites architecture, engineering, and consulting professionals from across industries and geographies. Our diverse and innovative team allows Haskell to serve our clients with multiple project delivery methods including design-build, engineer-procure-construct, fee-for-service, or consulting services. These services allow our team to form a strong rapport with clients, marshalling them as they grow and helping them address industry and market challenges. The Design & Consulting Team serves a diverse set of markets including religious and cultural projects. In this role, you will participate in project delivery in executing innovative planning, evaluation, design, permit, and construction support services for projects in our religious and cultural market. We are looking for a licensed Architect that will provide project management.
Job Responsibilities :
Application of Knowledge
- Directs and is accountable for all aspects of the design effort on a project for the disciplines assigned including conformance of project systems and components with all relevant project criteria
- Responsible for coordination among disciplines and conformance to corporate standards for design documents (e.g., calculations, drawing, and specification production)
- Client Management
Directs and is accountable for criteria acquisition from the client, distribution to the AE team, and communicating appropriate responses following review
Operates as primary client interface during designEnsures meeting minutes are produced to document all client meetingsWhere client needs and services are not defined, seeks to understand client criteria and documents what is needed for effective delivery of the projectDirects and is accountable for conformance of project systems and components with project criteria. Negotiates issue resolutions among design disciplines and between design and construction staffMaintains a positive client relationshipDevelops potential future work opportunitiesConstruction SupportMonitoring of design team response to Requests for Information and submittal review time
Assists in prioritizing critical responsesWhen assigned, track cost, scheduling, and purchasing of equipment and servicesWhen assigned, supervise or participate in installations and start-upChange ManagementResponsible for design scope change definition and management and impact to schedule and financial performance
Documents all changes in scope by terms of the contractFinancialDevelops design budget, fees, and scopes with input from the project design team and is responsible for design financial performance
Utilizes company standard procedures and software to project financial performance monthlyMonitors weekly fee burn rate weekly for short-duration projects and proposalsEnsures Owner is invoiced by terms of the contract (design only projects)Selects, negotiate with, manages, and directs the work of outside consultants when needed for project expertise or workloadMonitors project cash flowCommunicates with project manager / project director on financial status as appropriateSchedulingCoordinates staff allocation to projects with other design project managers and AE business unit leaders
Develops, in conjunction with the overall project schedule, the design scheduleProvides regular schedule updates to the design teamFor proposal efforts, working with the Project Executive determines the schedule for proposal pricing and deliverablesDirects and is accountable for design schedule compliance. Negotiates scheduling conflict resolution among design disciplines and between design and construction staffStrategyParticipates in developing and executing a "win strategy" for proposals
Participates in marketing and business development efforts as assignedSeeks innovative ways to provide the design deliverablesDirects and is accountable for the development of and compliance with a comprehensive and cohesive drawing and specifications production strategyParticipates in the formulation of design project management corporate policies and proceduresLeadershipSupervises personnel assigned to the project
Maintain all project communications through regular review meetingsEnsures all design contractual requirements are satisfiedProvides leadership in project teaming and integration of design and construction staffNegotiates issue resolutions among design disciplines and between design and constructionAdministrative Duties as assigned including performance reviews and career developmentParticipates in applicable corporate quality programs for assigned projectsParticipates in AE and corporate policies, procedures, committees, and initiatives when assignedParticipates in project closeout, the post-construction review process, and warranty responsesEnsuring all relevant design documents reside on the network in appropriate foldersResponsible for archiving AE documentsEducation / Experience :
Master's degree in architecture (preferred)Experience working on temples for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints10 years of progressive experience in a design discipline leading to 5 years as an independent lead designer and culminating with at least 3 years successfully performing design management and coordination activities in assistance to a design project managerWorking knowledge of one or two highly related design disciplines and the ability to manage and coordinate all design activities thereofSpecific Knowledge, Skills, License, Certifications :
Professional registration or registration eligible (preferred)Intermediate skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPointKnowledge of design document production and presentation softwareAbility to budget, manage and forecast in EcoSys or other business unit approved design management software.Communications, negotiations, management, and leadership skillsKnowledge and experience in design project management including, but not limited to, budgeting, scheduling, proposal writing, staffing, coordination, forecasting, conflict resolution, and change managementProject Management Professional (PMP) certification desired but not requiredHaskell offers a very robust and comprehensive benefits package! While performing the duties of this job, this position is required to have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; and the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10-50 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, and arm, hand and finger dexterity, including the ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read application / form information. The associate frequently is required to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear.
