What are the responsibilities and job description for the Dining Room Server position at The Haven at Sky Mountain?
The Dietary Aide/Server is responsible to provide gracious tableside dining service to residents, in addition to cleaning the area of the dining room and/or kitchen and assisting the cook with food preparation as well as assisting in serving meals. Should be available to occasionally rotate to other positions within the department when necessary.
The employee must be able to perform the essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodations. Except as specifically noted, the following functions are considered essential to this position:
a) Assist residents in the dining room to be seated and make menu selections. Provide tableside service to the residents of food selections. Initiate the serving of beverages and cold food items to the residents in the dining room.
b) Buss and reset the tables in the dining room following each meal time. Restock dining room tables with condiments.
c) Observe when food and dining room supplies are low and is responsible to report the need for reorders to the Director of Dining Services.
d) Meet residents’ scheduled meal and snack times.
e) Assist in receiving and storing food and supplies.
f) Provide assistance to the cook in the preparation and service of meals. Assist the cook to label and properly cover and store unused foods after each meal time. Assist the cook to put away inventory and meat orders.
g) Assist in arranging tray cards, loading food carts, and serving meals.
h) Follow established reporting procedures for the following: supplies or equipment needs; any damaged or loose fixtures, flooring, or tiling requiring replacement or repair; any unsafe or malfunctioning equipment; any conditions conducive to breeding insects, rodents or other vermin.
i) Follow defined Infection Control procedures.
j) Understand facility’s fire and disaster plans; follow established procedures during drills and actual emergencies.
k) Be knowledgeable of Federal, State, and Facility’s rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
l) Maintains a clean and sanitary work station area including tables, shelves, grills, broilers, fryers, pasta cookers, sauté burners, convection oven, flat top range and refrigeration equipment.
m) Report concerns or observations about residents to supervisor.
n) Notify Lead/Director of malfunction of equipment or appliances.
o) Practice safety in working with and around kitchen equipment.
p) Establish and maintain constructive working relationships with coworkers, residents, families and visitors.
