Job Title: Therapist
Reports To: Program Manager
Type: Full-Time
I. Purpose
The Therapist, under the supervision of the Program Manager and in conjunction with the Director of Clinical Services, provides counseling and psychoeducation treatment services to clients of The Haven and their family members. The therapist works in conjunction with other clinical and non-clinical staff and community agencies to promote and coordinate treatment services. The Haven endorses a trauma-informed care approach and a recovery model of SUD treatment.
II. Essential Functions
• Collaborates with clients in a positive manner to build a therapeutic relationship.
• Facilitates individual group, and family counseling and/or psychoeducation sessions utilizing Evidence-based treatment modalities.
• Utilizes Evidence-based interventions to prevent, address, and/or resolve identified treatment concerns.
• Develops and implements treatment plans with client participation.
• Conducts concurrent reviews and monthly summaries for clients as applicable.
• Works closely with adult recovery teams, clinical teams, and other professionals both within and outside the agency to plan, provide and promote the individual’s ongoing recovery.
• Maintains electronic member records in accordance with requirements set forth by the agency, ADHS, the AHCCCS plans and other funding sources.
• Uses empathy and active listening skills to build trust and to identify client issues and treatment needs.
• Manages caseload per Haven policies.
III. Other Duties and Responsibilities
• Demonstrates knowledge of recovery, relapse prevention, and community resources.
• Meets the program’s monthly productivity requirements.
• Establishes and maintains a professional working relationship with all staff.
• Provides coverage, when needed and assigned, by Program Manager or Director of Clinical Services.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Program Manager or Director of Clinical Services.
IV. Other Duties and Responsibilities for Intensive Outpatient/Outpatient Program
• Conducts efficient, detailed assessments for clients transitioning into a new program, i.e. Intensive Outpatient to Outpatient
Qualifications
Qualifications
• Must have Master's degree in Counseling, Social Work, or Marriage and Family Therapy or related behavioral health field.
• Must have a license obtained through the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners (LPC, LAC, LMSW, LCSW, LMFT, or AMFT preferred). If not, must have the ability to obtain a license through the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners within six months of hire.
• Must have a Non-IVP Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card upon hire
• Must have current CPR and First Aide Certification or be able to obtain within 30 days of hire.
• Must have current Non-Violent Crisis Intervention or be able to obtain with in 30 days of hire.
• A valid Driver License with a clean driving record is required.
• Must possess excellent customer service skills.
• Must have knowledge of substance use and recovery.
• Familiarity with the 12-step program and other related support groups.
• Ability to present ideas effectively, in both oral and written form.
• Ability to prepare detailed reports and prepare recommendations when necessary.
• One year of relevant work experience preferred.
Additional Qualifications for Intensive Outpatient/Outpatient Programs
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
Additional Qualifications for Residential
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
Additional Qualifications for Native Ways Program
• At least two years personal or professional experience living or working in one of Arizona’s Indigenous communities.
• Demonstrates strong knowledge and awareness of relevant Indigenous culture, history and contemporary issues.
