This company, a global leader in automotive safety and ADAS technology, is looking for a Director of Core Engineering to lead their team through the full product development and manufacturing cycles for next generation ADAS products. They’ll be a key player in a global organization as the company moves past Level 2 to Levels 2 and 3.

To be considered you must have a strong expertise in high-speed ADAS compute, with the hardware and systems experience to make core architectural decisions.

Position Description

You’ll head up a matrix organization of 70-80 people across multiple disciplines, with several management team members reporting directly to you. In addition, you’ll use your knowledge of the ADAS market to make key decisions about core architecture, get a solid understanding of OEM needs, and work with suppliers on the best solutions.

Other responsibilities include:

• Provide team leadership, management support, including coaching and active engagement with direct and extended teams.
• Resource planning to develop and approve budget and alignment to ensure responsible projects are properly staffed with the right quality and quantity of resources to meet the deliverables.
• Ensure that programs are properly resourced (both quality and quantity) for success, whether through assignment of direct resources, or leverage of external resources as required.
• Interviewing, hiring, training, reward, disciplinary actions, and performance appraisals of direct reporting employees.
• Ensure engineering timing plans, defect / issues list, risk assessments, lessons learned are created and maintained.
• Provide engineering status for project reviews (e.g. gate, design, milestones, etc.) per program timing for all assigned projects.
• Track and report on engineering targets (BOM cost, quality, timing, performance, project and department engineering budget, core re-use metrics, etc.) for all assigned projects.
• Responsible for ensuring new technology is aligned with market needs to maximize re-use.
• Leads all Technical Design Reviews within responsible product line.
• Engineering quote response (effort, material, capital, tooling, etc.) for new program opportunities.
• Direct core continuous improvement efforts for products, processes and programs.

Qualifications

• BSEE or BSCE (Masters preferred) with 10 years of experience in automotive technology leadership, either at the Direct-level or ready to step up.
• A strong expertise in high-speed ADAS compute, with the hardware and systems experience to make core architectural decisions. This includes market knowledge of solutions from suppliers such as Nvidia, TI, Qualcomm, etc.
• Proven ability to work with OEM customers to understand and develop their expectations for ADAS products.
• Strong background in structured engineering, structured problem solving (8D), project planning, and configuration management.

Compensation:

$200K , depending on qualifications, plus bonus.
