Sales Manager

Oakland County, Michigan

Our firm has been exclusively engaged by a global manufacturing leader in metal parts for the automotive and consumer products field, that is looking for a Sales Manager to call on key accounts (OEM and Tiers 1 and 2), identify and develop market opportunities, and establish / manage relationships with customers throughout the U.S. You would lead a team, and be the key point of contact for customers and provide both pre-sales and after-sales support.

This is a company that is a market leader with a secure line of business compared to their competitors. While automotive is our client’s number one industry, they also have business in other markets to provide extra stability. They’re looking for someone who can help cement and expand their presence in the market.

Position Description

Our client is looking for someone who can provide strategic thinking to both expand business with their current clients, plus find new opportunities. In addition, they need someone who can work with engineering teams on efforts, such as VAVE, to blunt the negative effects of inflation and other market forces. This is a position for someone who is always looking for new angles and approaches to improve sales and customer relationships.

Responsibilities :

  • Effectively demonstrate and persuade customers that the company’s products and attention to service best satisfy their needs in quality, price, and delivery.
  • Maintain or create relationships with purchasing leaders, design engineers and key decision makers at OEMs and Tier 1 and 2 suppliers.
  • Proactively identify opportunities based on available customer information and discussions with management.
  • Maintain customer sales forecast and keep your team’s account pipeline up to date.
  • Lead the proposal process, including working with engineering and finance to put the company in the best position to win customer work.
  • Lead negotiations re : tender and contract terms and conditions that satisfy both customer and company profitability.
  • Represent the company at industry trade shows, conferences and other marketing events.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree (Engineering / Science preferred) required.
  • 4 years of experience selling to OEM and / or Tier 1 and 2 automotive.
  • Proven track record developing and implementing effective sale strategies.
  • Functional competency of process and technical engineering.
  • Experience with cross functional teams in engineering, manufacturing, sales, purchasing, etc. for the applications of products and execution of projects.
  • Ability to travel 25-50% in the U.S.
  • Compensation :

    120-150K base salary, with a car allowance and bonus (10-20%).

    This is a direct-hire position, with a full benefit package.

    Salary : $120,000 - $150,000
