POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for the management and execution of all kitchen and food service operations for The Healing Place of New Hanover County. This position is also responsible for the overall cleanliness of the facility, maintaining a ready supply of cleaning products, and managing donations to the facility.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential functions include but are not limited to the following:
- Oversee all day-to-day kitchen and food service operations
- Plan daily menus and maintain basic understanding and adherence to basic nutritional guidelines
- Coordinate the preparation meals for clients, visitors and staff
- Perform daily kitchen walk-through with food service associates to review food service plan for the following day including locating food to be prepared, reviewing recipes and preparation steps
- Inspect and maintain kitchen equipment to ensure proper function including temperature logs
- Organize and maintain all food storage areas including dry storage, freezers and refrigerators
- Manage and maintain a working inventory of food, food services supplies, cleaning supplies and equipment
- Develop, manage, and perform a regular cleaning schedule for each area of the facility
- Train and manage program clients to perform housekeeping duties, including the creation and management of housekeeping guidelines
- Provide consistent training and education to program clients about safe food practices and the safe use of kitchen equipment
- Organize and manage food, clothing, and hygene donations from community partners
- Assist in the coordination and execution of special events on and off-site
- Ensure that all kitchen and food service operations adhere to local Department of Health regulations
- Acquire and maintain ServeSafe Manager Certification (within 30 days of onboarding)
- Ensure proper sanitation standards and procedures are being followed throughout the entire facility
- Ensure that kitchen, food service operations, facility, furniture, and equipment meet all safety standards

QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS
- High School Diploma or Equivalency required
- Some experience working food service industry preferred
- Working knowledge in Microsoft Office (especially Outlook, Excel and Word)
- Must be able to spend extended periods of time on your feet (walking, standing)
- Ability to project a professional image
- Must be able to lift 50lbs. on occasion
- Valid Driver's License required
