Who You Are:
As a Medical Billing Specialist, you must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing and have excellent organizational skills. Attention to detail and accuracy is paramount. Prior experience working in a medical office with Cerner or other EMR system is preferred. Even better if you have knowledge of ICD-10 billing codes.
You will play a key role in monitoring and supporting our financial operations. You will perform complex clerical and accounting functions for patient billing, including verification of invoice information, maintaining third-party billing records, and answering patient billing questions. You will be responsible to follow up on submitted claims and patient billing, resubmit claims when needed, and correct inaccuracies. You may process some cash transactions as well as accounts receivables. You will work with our reception team and billing department to ensure financial accuracy.
What you'll be doing:
- Process billing to patients and third-party insurance companies
- Maintain supporting documentation files and current patient addresses
- Research and responds by telephone and / or in writing to patient inquiries regarding billing issues and problems
- Monitor submitted claims, follows up on unpaid claims, and initiates dialogue with insurance companies
- Prepare monthly A/R report
- Submit claim information forms to insurance companies
- Answer questions from patients, clerical staff and insurance companies
- Identify and resolve patient billing questions
- Evaluate patient’s financial status and establish payment plans
- Perform various collection actions including contacting patients by phone, correcting and resubmitting claims to third party payers
Our Work Environment:
This is a full-time position with a Monday-Friday schedule. We work 8:00-5:00 Monday-Thursday and close at 2:00 on Friday! We offer Paid Time Off; a 401K with company match; medical, dental, and vision coverage; company paid life insurance; an in-house chef; and employee discounts on services.
Compensation starts at $15.00/hour DOE.
