The Health Foundation of Greater Indianapolis, Inc. is currently accepting applications for our 2025-2026 AmeriCorps program to increase the capacity of public health workers in Indiana, to address an End to the HIV/HCV Epidemic and other health related programming. Members will serve in a full-time capacity for a one-year term (1700 service hours), September 2025 to July 2026.
AmeriCorps members will be placed at a Service Site where they will be supporting local efforts to Respond and Prevent to support people living with HIV/HCV and other related health conditions including Covid-19 Recovery and addressing racial inequities. A special emphasis will be placed on reducing health disparities in communities served.
Members will gain professional public health experience while helping fill an unmet need around the state of Indiana.
Candidates may have an interest in Medicine, Public Health, Social Work, Sociology, Gender Studies, Harm Reduction, etc. Minimum High School Diploma and/or equivalent is required to apply.
People with lived experience including HIV, Hepatitis C, previous substance use, and/or belonging to an underserved community (LGBTQ , Black/African-American, and LatinX) are encouraged to apply.
To support their service, each member receives a modest living stipend for the year (up to $20,400), health insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, childcare benefits, and forbearance of student loans. Members completing a full-term of service are also eligible for the Segal AmeriCorps Education Award. During the previous service year, full-time members received an education award of $7,350.00. How to Apply
There are TWO applications that have to be filled out in order to be considered. The first is a supplemental application through THFGI website, and the other is an application through the AmeriCorps portal.
1. Go to thfgi.org/americorps to access the supplemental application. There is an online version of the form. Please be prepared to upload a resume. If there is an issue preventing you from using the online form, please feel free download the fillable PDF version and send to ebarney@thfgi.org, subject line: AmeriCorps Application, with your resume and essay responses attached as well.
2. Go to my.americorps.gov to fill out the application through the AmeriCorps Portal.

Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis with priority given to applications received by April 1st, 2025. Applications will continue to be accepted on a rolling basis until all positions are filled.
Those eligible to participate in The Health Foundation of Greater Indianapolis, Inc. AmeriCorps Program will meet the following criteria: they must be at least 18 years of age at the beginning of the program year; they must be a United States citizen or a permanent legal resident; they must have a high school diploma or GED; they must be available to begin service in early-September 2025; and they must complete the requisite application materials as defined below.
