The Health Trust is committed to advancing health equity in Silicon Valley through a collaborative, innovative, and data-driven approach. THT is a $120 million nonprofit operating foundation focused in Santa Clara County and San Benito County, California. We aim for long-lasting change by tackling the physical, political, social, and systemic barriers that hinder health equity. In addition to addressing these challenges, we directly fund solutions that respond to both existing and emerging community needs. By leveraging partnerships and acting as a Funder, Advocate and Catalyst, we strive to create a healthier, more equitable future for all residents of Silicon Valley regardless of immigration status, income, race, gender, age, or socio-economic status.
GENERAL SUMMARY
The Health Trust (THT) seeks a courageous and visionary thought leader with strong ties to the local community who embodies a commitment to health equity and community empowerment. This leader will guide innovative strategies and cultivate strategic partnerships to enhance the Foundation’s impact. Working closely with the Leadership Team and Board of Trustees, the CEO will champion local philanthropy focused on health equity and serve as a trusted partner within the broader Silicon Valley health ecosystem and community. They will actively engage with community stakeholders to identify and address emerging health care needs, leveraging THT’s strengths as a Funder, Advocate and Catalyst to directly address health disparities and foster positive change. The ideal candidate will inspire action and collaboration within a dynamic, forward-thinking organization with a demonstrated history of developing and growing high-impact nonprofit organizations.
A successful candidate should possess a deep understanding of how racial equity intersects with health equity and other social determinants of health. This includes recognizing the systemic barriers that contribute to health disparities, such as economic inequality, education access, and housing instability. They should be able to articulate how these factors collectively impact community health outcomes and demonstrate a commitment to addressing these issues through informed policies and innovative programs and practices. Experience in advocating for equitable solutions and collaborating with diverse communities, policymakers and funding sources will be essential in driving meaningful change.
Reporting to The Health Trust Board of Trustees (BOT), the CEO provides leadership and direction toward the achievement of the organization’s philosophy, mission, strategy, vision and annual goals and objectives. The CEO has full authority to carry out duties and responsibilities of the position, subject to The Health Trust’s governing documents, its statements regarding mission, values, vision, goals and objectives, BOT policies and procedures, and applicable laws. The CEO is responsible for all functions of the organization, which include Operations, Board Relations, Internal Relations and External Relations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Leadership & Management
- Responsible for developing, leading and ensuring the implementation of the strategic plan of The Health Trust (THT).
- Establish short and long-term plans that are consistent with the THT mission.
- Create and develop innovative grantmaking, advocacy and catalyst-focused strategies and programs to advance and grow THT’s role and impact in the community.
- Lead THT operations efficiently according to best practices, ethical guidelines and fiduciary requirements.
- Oversee the planning and budgeting process to maintain a strong financial basis for the organization, maintaining a role in endowment management and growth, and supporting both short-term and long-term needs and the objectives of the Foundation.
- Oversee all operations of THT, including assurance of good financial standing.
- Manage and motivate staff to operationalize and execute the organization’s strategy and operations.
- Ensure that THT is in compliance with all federal and state regulations and has sufficient internal controls to operate in accordance with new or revised regulations.
