Telephone Triage Nurse Assistant

Career Opportunity - Telephone Triage Nurse Assistant with The HealthCare Connection in Cincinnati, OH (Mt. Healthy site)

Our organization is looking for Telephone Triage Nurse Assistant interested in aiding our patients with appointments. The Telephone Triage Assistant responds to incoming telephone calls, directs calls to the appropriate clinical/other department staff, makes patient appointments as needed, and generates telephone tasks via the Electronic Health Record to the Telephone Triage Nurse.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Takes accurate notes, takes messages when applicable, and relays messages to the appropriate staff/department.
• Responds to all voicemails by close of business the next day. Documents all telephone messages in the Electronic Health Record.
• Assists referral sites that request additional information from patients’ medical records.
• Generates tasks to the Telephone Triage Nurse from patients seeking medication refills, patients seeking medical information and/or medical attention, and patients seeking same day/next day appointments if slots are not immediately available.
• Seeks assistance from the Telephone Triage Nurse when potential volatile calls escalate due to difficult patients/patient families.
• Faxing referrals/PX Tets/Forms
• Other duties as assigned.

This position requires work in an office setting.

EDUCATION
High school diploma or GED

WORK EXPERIENCE

• 1 year experience working in a medical office or an ambulatory care center.
• Knowledge of physician office operations and customer service principles.
• Knowledge of MS Office.

Must possess excellent customer service communication and organizational skills.
Able to handle confidential and sensitive information while working with persons with diverse educational, socioeconomic, and ethnic backgrounds
