RN Clinical Supervisor
EVERY OTHER WEEKEND
Shift: 7am-7pm Saturday-Sunday and On-Call Friday-Sunday

Position Summary
To assist in the management and direction of the Nursing Department in accordance with the current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations that govern our facility, and as may be directed by the Administrator, the Director of Nursing and Medical Director, to ensure that the highest degree of quality care is maintained at all times. As the Clinical Supervisor of Nursing, you are delegated the administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability necessary for carrying out your assigned duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Supports Nurse Management in the supervision and management of the day-to-day functions of the nursing department in accordance with current rules, regulations, and guidelines that govern the long-term care facility.
- Supervises nursing service personnel to ensure that they perform their jobs in accordance with the Nursing Services Policies and Procedures Manual.
- Makes written and oral reports/recommendations to the DON as necessary/required, concerning the operation of the nursing department.
- Manages admissions, transfers, and discharges of residents.
- Responds to resident or resident family concerns or complaints.
- Ensures that Medical Director or attending physicians are contacted as needed and assists physicians during facility visits.
- Completes resident accident/incident reports as necessary.
- Interprets Nursing Services Policies and Procedures Manual for personnel, residents, visitors, and government agencies as required.
- Perform administrative duties such as completing forms, reports, evaluations, studies, charting, etc., as necessary.
- Ensures that a sufficient number of nursing personnel are present during shift and facilitates replacements as needed.
- Responds to employee concerns or complaints.
- Supervises nursing service personnel to ensure that they perform their jobs in accordance with their job descriptions and workplace policies.
- Maintain the confidentiality of all resident care information.
- Monitor nursing care to ensure that all residents are treated fairly, and with kindness, dignity and respect.
- Ensure that all nursing care is provided in privacy and that nursing service personnel knock before entering the resident’s room.
- Ensure that all nursing service personnel are knowledgeable of the resident’s responsibilities and rights including the right to refuse treatment.
- Review complaints and grievances made by the resident and make a written/oral report to the Director indicating what action(s) were taken to resolve the complaint or grievance.
- Follow facility’s established procedures.
- Maintain a written record of the resident’s complaints and/or grievances that indicates the action taken to resolve the complaint and the current status of the complaint.
- Report and investigate all allegations of resident abuse and/or misappropriation of resident property.
- Ensure that nursing staff personnel honor the resident’s refusal of treatment request. Ensure that such requests are in accordance with the facility’s policies governing advance directives.
- Ensures that nursing department employment actions are administered fairly and in compliance with the facility’s Policy Against Discrimination, Harassment and Retaliation.

- Education and/or Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Must have, as a minimum, 1 year of experience as a RN in a hospital, long-term care facility, or other related health care facility.
- Certificates and Licenses:
- Must possess an active license to practice as a RN license valid in this state.
- Other Specific Requirements
- Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language.
- Must possess the ability to make independent decision when circumstances warrant such action.
- Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public.
- Must be knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines that pertain to long-term care.
- Must possess leadership and supervisory ability and the willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise other personnel.
- Must have patience, tact, a cheerful disposition and enthusiasm, as well as the willingness to handle difficult residents.
