What are the responsibilities and job description for the Part-time SLP position at The Helix School?
The Helix School is currently seeking a Part-time Speech-Language Pathologist Clinical Fellow with experience working with Autistic children. Areas of focus include articulation, social communication, and expressive and receptive language. This position reports to the Clinical Coordinator/SLP Supervisor. The ideal candidate will contribute to an individualized and collaborative approach to meeting the speech, language, and social communication needs of our students.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide individualized programming for speech, language, and social communication.
- Assess the speech and language needs of new students to design and implement appropriate remediation, instructional plans, and strategies.
- Follow pre-existing SLP plans per IEP and current goal reports for students.
- Determine the impact of the student’s impairment on accessing the general curriculum.
- Prepare thorough and accurate goals and progress reports in a timely manner.
- Develop a variety of instructional activities to meet students’ speech, language, and social communication goals.
- Provide direct group or individual therapy in areas as defined by therapy records.
- Ensure student achievement and progress towards goals, adjusting intervention strategies based on performance.
- Complete progress reports in accordance with Helix and school-specific guidelines.
Training and Consultation:
- Work cooperatively with educators and specialists to support student success in speech and language within the classroom.
- Counsel students, parents, and staff regarding the social and educational needs of the students, particularly in speech and language.
- Develop parent education programs to help parents understand and support their children’s speech and language development, where appropriate.
Qualifications and Desired Characteristics:
- Licensed Speech-Language Pathologist in the state of California.
- Strong preference for candidates with experience working with Autistic students.
- Experience with AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication).
- Familiarity with developmental and relationship-based interventions.
- Flexible thinker with a growth mindset.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
Hours and Compensation:
This is a part-time, 20-hour per week position.

Salary : $70 - $85
