The Helix School serves students, ages 5 to 22, living throughout the Bay Area who have mild to moderate autism. Position Overview
The Therapist, Counselor, or Psychologist will work closely with our Clinical Director, behavior intervention specialists, teachers, and school leaders to deliver high-quality therapeutic services. This includes conducting assessments, providing direct counseling as outlined in students’ IEPs, collaborating on interventions, and contributing to goal development and implementation. This role may also support crisis intervention, safety planning, and staff and parent education. This position reports directly to the Clinical Director.
Responsibilities
- Deliver direct counseling services to students (approximately 70% of hours are direct service)
- Provide in-classroom “push-in” support where appropriate
- Offer individual and group counseling to students with autism
- Create, implement, and track IEP goals for students on caseload
- Complete required documentation: Present Levels, progress reports, and proposed goals
- Collaborate in interdisciplinary team meetings with SLPs, OTs, behaviorists, educators, and the Clinical Director
- Attend weekly clinical meetings and classroom team meetings
- Participate in crisis intervention and development of student safety plans
- Communicate regularly with families and provide parent education when needed
- Maintain clear and accurate documentation in a timely manner
Qualifications
- Valid licensure in one of the following: LMFT, LCSW, LPCC, Licensed Psychologist, PPS School Counselor, or School Psychologist
- Minimum of 5–7 years of experience providing school-based mental health services
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively on interdisciplinary teams
- Experience supporting students with autism and other developmental disabilities
- Deep commitment to family collaboration and culturally responsive practices
- Passion for serving neurodivergent learners and their families
- Familiarity with special education processes, IEPs, and related documentation

Salary : $100,000 - $115,000
