With a commitment to excellence, The Help Group is looking for a highly motivated and experienced VP of Business Development and Strategy to lead our growth initiatives and help shape the future of our organization. The Vice President of Business Development and Strategy will play a pivotal role in driving new program development, funding diversification and expansion of agency success. This executive leader will be responsible for leveraging existing programs & services, identifying, and developing new business opportunities, and forging strategic partnerships in the community. The ideal candidate is a visionary and results-oriented professional with a proven track record of business development and program expansion.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic Planning & Business Development
- Collaborate with the executive team to develop and implement a comprehensive business development strategy that aligns with the organization’s goals and objectives.
- Lead efforts to expand market presence by identifying and pursuing strategic opportunities in existing and new geographic regions.
- Identify and secure new business opportunities, revenue streams, and strategic relationships.
- Drive all phases of business development, including research, market analysis, due diligence, proposal development, and operational plans to secure new contracts, grants, and partnerships.
- Oversee the Grants team, provide direction and centralize the tracking, research, writing and submission of grants, as well as all required reports and documentation.
- Evaluate potential mergers, acquisitions, or strategic alliances to enhance organizational impact.
- Partner with the Chief Program and Strategy Officer in navigating due diligence efforts, assessing cultural, financial, operational and mission alignment.
- Develop and implement integration plans that prioritize seamless transitions, staff alignment, and client experience.
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including clients, government agencies, and community organizations, with the goal of new development and overall organizational growth.
- Develop and manage the lifecycle of strategic partnerships, including identification, engagement, and continuous cultivation to enhance collaboration and expand the organization’s reach.
- Develop and maintain an outreach tracking database and other tools to manage business development activities effectively.
- Identify and evaluate new program opportunities aligned with the organization’s mission and strategic priorities.
- Lead cross-functional teams to design, implement, and scale innovative programs that address emerging needs in the communities served.
- Drive the expansion of existing programs and services, identifying areas for growth and improvement. Develop and implement strategies to enhance program effectiveness and reach.
- Monitor program effectiveness through performance metrics and implement improvements based on data-driven insights.
- Lead the Marketing and Communications department; provide strategic direction on how to increase awareness, participation, and support for the organization’s programs.
- Manage media relationships and develop communication materials to promote the organization’s mission and programs.
- Identify key opportunities to represent the organization at industry events, engage in speaking engagements, and participate in community activities to build brand awareness, promote schools and programming and foster relationships.
- Develop budget models for new business initiatives and programs, ensuring financial stability and growth.
- Monitor and report on the financial and operational performance of new and existing initiatives.
- Establish key performance indicators to track and measure success.
- Prepare regular reports and updates for the executive team.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
- Non-profit leadership experience
- Experience in foundation and government grants writing
- Proven track record with at least 5 years in business development, program expansion, or a related leadership role.
- Strong understanding of market dynamics and industry trends.
- Exceptional strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, negotiation, and presentation abilities.
- Demonstrated ability to build and support strategic relationships.
- Financial acumen with experience managing budgets and financial resources.
- Leadership experience with the ability to inspire and lead cross functional teams.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced and evolving environment.
- High level of integrity and ethics.
