Overview

The National Sales Director is a strategic leader responsible for driving rapid sales expansion, optimizing sales processes, and leveraging data to maximize market share. This role requires an aggressive approach to national sales expansion, hiring new reps in emerging markets, and increasing shelf space with existing accounts. Additionally, the National Sales Director must enhance the team’s use of Salesforce CRM, integrate data strategies to optimize decision-making, and build a foundation process automation & optimization.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES : SALES STRATEGY & NATIONAL EXPANSION :

  • Prioritize aggressive market penetration while ensuring a scalable, data-driven approach.
  • Oversee the Market Development Manager (MDM) in launching new markets, ensuring their efforts align with broader sales objectives to rapidly expand into new high-potential markets.
  • Leverage the MDM to lead market blitzes, onboard new accounts, and oversee sales rep recruitment.
  • Work with the COO to optimize revenue channels and set aggressive but achievable quarterly sales goals.
  • Collaborate with marketing to align sales efforts with brand-building initiatives.
  • Ensure that sales reps drive B2B expansion to capture shelf space and optimize distribution.

SALES TEAM DEVELOPMENT & MANAGEMENT :

  • Hire, train, and manage a growing team of Market managers (Sales Reps) and a Sales Operations team.
  • Guide the MDM in hiring and onboarding new sales reps to build a high-performing national team.
  • Oversee the Senior Sales Coordinator to ensure seamless customer support, consistent reporting, and efficient management of private label projects.
  • Set monthly and quarterly revenue goals, conversion metrics, and KPIs with clear expectations.
  • Lead performance reviews and initiate performance improvement plans (PIPs) when necessary.
  • Ensure sales team members fully understand our value proposition, market position, and competitive advantages.
  • Conduct weekly coaching sessions to refine negotiation, presentation, and closing strategies.
  • Develop structured negotiation training programs to equip reps with advanced deal-closing techniques.
  • Implement career path planning to retain top talent and grow internal leadership.
  • Introduce post-sale retention training, ensuring reps maximize upsell and renewal opportunities.
  • Foster a high-energy, competitive culture that drives individual and team accountability.
  • Build out the sales department as the company grows, ensuring scalability in operations and personnel.
  • CRM, DATA MANAGEMENT & COMPETITOR INTELLIGENCE :

  • Optimize Salesforce CRM usage to track pipelines, improve account management, and ensure accurate data entry.
  • Implement a data-driven approach to sales, integrating Consumer Cloud insights to extract market intelligence.
  • Ensure real-time reporting on sales progress, account health, and rep performance.
  • Guid dev team on live dashboards that track revenue growth, KPI performance, and customer trends.
  • Ensure every account has complete and accurate data, including updated contacts and purchasing behaviors.
  • Develop CRM automation to streamline sales processes and reduce administrative burden on reps.
  • Leverage the MDM's reporting from new markets to identify early sales trends and adjust strategies in real time.
  • Integrate competitor analysis tracking into CRM to monitor market trends, pricing, and competitive positioning.
  • Use predictive analytics to forecast demand, optimize pricing, and fine-tune go-to-market strategies.
  • SALES PROCESS AUTOMATION & WORKFLOW OPTIMIZATION :

  • Develop and implement automation tools to streamline the sales pipeline, lead distribution, and reporting.
  • Integrate AI-driven follow-ups and auto-reminders into Salesforce CRM to enhance engagement.
  • Leverage technology to optimize sales rep workflows, reducing administrative time and maximizing selling hours.
  • Ensure seamless integration of proposal management, e-signature platforms, and contract automation.
  • Continuously refine workflows to eliminate inefficiencies and enhance conversion rates.
  • Improve communication between departments using real-time reporting and automated notifications.
  • ACCOUNT MANAGEMENT & SALES ENABLEMENT :

  • Oversee account distribution and optimize sales rep coverage for maximum efficiency.
  • Ensure strategic deployment of sales resources to high-priority markets, working in tandem with the MDM.
  • Improve lead generation, customer segmentation, and closing strategies.
  • Monitor sample distribution and ensure the highest conversion rates.
  • Ensure the marketing team receives valuable customer insights to tailor campaigns.
  • Develop incentive programs and competitions to motivate sales teams.
  • OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED

    Qualifications

  • Proven experience in sales leadership and account management
  • Strong negotiation and business development skills
  • Expertise in B2B sales and outside sales techniques in CPG vertical
  • Proficient in Salesforce and data analysis
  • Familiarity with customer segmentation and AI applications
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Background in technology sales and marketing is a plus
