Associate Producer

The Film Department as a member of the Media Relations & Studio Productions team is responsible for creating mission based, thought-provoking, visually appealing video content that well represents all programming, products, initiatives, expertise, and new acquisitions spearheaded by The Henry Ford. The film department is also responsible, as needed, for documenting The Henry Ford’s programs, events, collections, and activities. Additionally, the Film Department manages and facilitates video footage and content to internal and approved external partners. Members of the team will also work and collaborate with The Henry Ford’s external contracted film vendors.

The Associate Producer at The Henry Ford creates engaging video content that brings the museum's mission to life, inspiring deeper audience connection. This role requires expertise in digital media, video production, and post-production, as well as familiarity with social media and streaming platforms to deliver high-quality content across these channels. The ideal candidate must be adaptable, positive, and thrive in a collaborative team environment, managing multiple projects and deadlines. They should also demonstrate innovation while being mindful of the historical significance of the museum's collections, property, and guests.

Essential Responsibilities:

Production Assistance (60%)

• Serve as a shooter, audio recorder, and/or editor for compelling digital video productions, collaborating closely with project producers
• Processes video encoding, apply appropriate codecs, and format content for various platforms, including social media
• Execute video post-production tasks for digital broadcasting, ensuring storytelling aligns with evolving social media standards
• Provide essential production support to project producers
• Develop thought-provoking, visually engaging video content in line with The Henry Ford’s Digital Content platform needs and requirements
• In collaboration with the Producer, coordinate and perform pre-production activities such as workflow management, scheduling, shot sheet preparation, crew assignments, release forms, location scouting, set design (when applicable), graphic preparation, and rehearsals
• Assist the Producer and Executive Producer with the Film Department’s operations and project needs
• Continuously enhance technical skills and stay informed of industry standards, trends in content strategy, and social media

Project Management (25%)

• Maintain a high standard of work that exhibits strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and effective asset management across all tasks
• Perform regular maintenance and updates on THF’s in-house video and audio production equipment, records, logs, and associated tools
• Manage video and multimedia projects by tracking expenditures and preparing required reports
• Foster a collaborative work environment with internal and external partners while efficiently managing multiple projects
• Support video editorial meetings by collaboratively refining communications concepts, defining project scope and theme, scouting location, preparing graphics, coordinating limited set design, releases, managing releases, and both establishing and meeting project timeline

Creative Direction (15%)

• Plan, direct, shoot, and edit assigned video and multimedia productions as assigned
• Uphold and enhance The Henry Ford brand through innovative video and digital media content
• Contribute creative insights on scripts and content concepts to ensure engagement, brand alignment, and historical accuracy
• Execute additional responsibilities as required to support departmental objectives

Your Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in film production, advertising, digital media, or a related field, plus a minimum of 1 year of film and video production experience—or 5 years of equivalent professional experience
• Familiarity with motion graphics is preferred
• Flexibility to work early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and holidays as required
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and in indoor environments that may be non-air-conditioned or heated, including areas exposed to stove or fireplace smoke
• Comfort working in settings with historic artifacts, livestock, and specialized collections that require adherence to specific protocols
• Possession of a valid driver’s license

Special Skills:

• Demonstrated proficiency in video production with a proven track record of delivering high-quality content
• Advanced skills in Adobe Creative Suite—including Photoshop, Acrobat, InDesign, Premiere Pro, Audition, and After Effects—on PC operating systems
• Strong command of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.) for efficient communication and documentation
• Exceptional written, verbal, and listening skills paired with a collaborative, team-oriented approach
• Highly creative and organized, capable of managing projects independently while maintaining attention to detail
• Ability to work with minimal supervision
• Ability to work within a team environment
• Strong written, listening and verbal skills, strong interpersonal skills demonstrated experience in video production
• Flexible, nimble, and strategic in adapting to evolving priorities and challenges

PHYSICAL/ENVIRONMENTAL:

• FREQUENT: Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, ramps; remaining in a stationary position, often standing, or sitting for prolonged periods; standing, walking, sitting; communicating with others to exchange information; assessing the accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of the work assigned; handling, grasping, repetitive motions, eye/hand/foot coordination; repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers
• OCCASIONALLY: Pushing carts with equipment; carrying/handles equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
• Must be able to work outdoors in all weather. Stove and fireplace smoke. Environment including non-air-conditioned and heated interiors. Working in and around historic artifacts, animal, and collections pieces.
