HJF is seeking a Computational Research Scientist IV. This individual will collaborate with translational and physician-scientists to develop innovative computational and statistical approaches for analyzing multi-omics data, including data from next generation DNA and RNA sequencing and proteomics to uncover signatures related to patient outcomes and drug responses in gynecologic cancers.

The Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine (HJF) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing military medicine. We serve military, medical, academic and government clients by administering, managing and supporting preeminent scientific programs that benefit members of the armed forces and civilians alike. Since its founding in 1983, HJF has served as a vital link between the military medical community and its federal and private partners. HJF's support and administrative capabilities allow military medical researchers and clinicians to maintain their scientific focus and accomplish their research goals.

This is a 1-year position, with the possibility of extension given funding availability and the ongoing needs of the program.

• Lead computational biology efforts within the GYN-COE.
• Develop novel computational methodologies for analyzing genomic and proteomic data, including whole-genome, exome, RNA-seq, ChIP-seq, and mass spectrometry-based proteomics.
• Create and implement customized data analysis toolkits for integrating instrument and clinical data.
• Develop in-house data processing pipelines, cluster analysis tools, sample size and power analysis methods, survival analysis models, and data visualization tools.
• Work closely with a highly productive cancer research team in an exceptional collaborative environment.
• Develop projects independently and communicate findings in peer-reviewed literature and at national and international conferences.

Supervisory Responsibilities

• Assigned Lead: May recommend the following: employee hiring, disciplinary action, and starting salaries; provide input on employee performance evaluations.

Education and Experience

• Doctoral Degree in Engineering, Physics, Math or related physical science discipline
• Minimum of 9-10 years experience required

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Leader who guides staff in all aspects of computational projects and proposal development
• Expert knowledge of applicable complex scientific projects
• Proven computational experience with expert computational knowledge
• Strong publication record
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to troubleshoot technical procedures
• U.S. Citizenship for database access

Physical Capabilities

• Lifting: Requires lifting materials up to 10 lbs.
• Ability to stand or sit at a computer for prolonged periods.

Work Environment

• This position will take place primarily in an office setting.
• This is an onsite position in Annandale, Virginia.

• The annual salary range for this position is $120,600-$160,000. Actual salary will be determined based on experience, education, etc.
