HJF is seeking a Laboratory Technician III/Logistics Coordinator to provide Division Operations support to the division lab manager while assisting in facilitating the management and oversight of the operations of 37 biotechnology, sensors development and cognitive neuroscience laboratories (labs) across multiple buildings, branches, and sections within our organization to ensure all labs operate efficiently, safely, and effectively. The technician will be responsible for executing the day-to-day tracking of the equipment inventory and logistics inside the labs.
This position will be in support of The 711th Human Performance Wing (711 HPW), headquartered at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio, is the first human-centric warfare wing to consolidate human performance research, education and consultation under a single organization. Established under the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL), the 711 HPW is comprised of the Human Effectiveness Directorate (RH) and the United States Air Force School of Aerospace Medicine (USAFSAM). The Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine (HJF) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing military medicine. - Performs physical and administrative tasks involved in warehousing and material handling. Completes tasks in accordance with established procedures and proven techniques for the facility or facilities supported.
- Works with Laboratory/Facility Manager to track facility issues. Troubleshoots laboratory and facilities equipment including electrical and mechanical system repairs. May be tasked to respond to after hours laboratory emergencies.
- Assists with the facility's control of accountable equipment and Composite Took Kits (CTKs) as well as managing Test Measurement Diagnostic Evaluation (TMDE) program.
- Coordinates with fixed assets and Facilities logistical Point Of Contact (POC) to assist with equipment accountability and property management. Moves and installs various items of lab equipment and furniture as needed.
- Monitor lab equipment, inventory, and supplies, ensuring they are properly stocked and work with Hazardous Waste Managers to properly disposed of based on relevant chemical and biological hygiene regulations, i.e. 711 HPW Chemical Hygiene Plan.
- Track/maintain physical and electronic records of available equipment and maintaining visibility of equipment using Logistics Material Control Activity (LMCA), Medical Equipment Management Office (MEMO).
- May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for role.
- Associates degree required. Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Minimum of 6-8 years experience required.
- Technical knowledge of scientific disciplines.
- Knowledge of and skill in laboratory technique and handling biological and chemical hazards and their safe use and disposal.
- At least 2 years’ experience managing equipment inventory and necessary administrative duties that correspond with the work.
- Ability to perform a range of warehouse and maintenance activities.
- Must demonstrate an exceptionally high capacity for working autonomously and performing assigned tasks with minimal supervision.
- Must have strong organizational and managerial skills/excellent communication and interpersonal skills and demonstrates the ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a T1/Public Trust background check.
- Lifting: Requires lifting materials up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to stand or sit at a computer for prolonged periods.
- Ability to climb, pull, and lift heavy objects.
- Operating motor vehicles, machinery, and/or power tools.
- This position will take place primarily in a laboratory setting.
- The hourly pay range for this position is $24.09-$36.06. Actual hourly pay will be determined based on experience, education, etc.
