What are the responsibilities and job description for the COACH | Elevate Academy ($15/hour) position at The Heritage Community?
Elevate Academy is a co-ed, residential treatment program for adolescents, specializing in trauma, mood disorders, adoption and attachment issues, and similar diagnoses. Students in Elevate Academy have faced adverse experiences that have negatively impacted their physical, emotional, and social wellbeing. We strive to build our students' confidence and resiliency, and then empower them to build on those foundations to take charge of a thriving future!
Elevate Academy Coaches work directly with our students, as they provide supervised support and mentoring to guide the students in a forward, therapeutic progression. They assist the students to learn how to self-regulate and implement the tools they learn in therapy during daily activities. We will hire a candidate who demonstrates engagement skills, who can be an attuned caregiver, and shows passion and vision to excel!
Coaches can also earn internship / academic credit as a university student! Local universities have already pre-approved this position to count as credit for those who wish to gain field experience in mental health! Starting as a Coach can also lead to the opportunity of becoming a Clinical Aide, which is an amazing undergraduate experience of shadowing a licensed, clinical Therapist!

Schedule:
Team 1 | Monday, Wednesday, Friday, 7 AM - 3 PM, one Sunday every 4 weeks
Team 2 | Monday, Wednesday, Friday,, 2:30 - 10 PM, one Sunday every 4 weeks
Team 3 | Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, 7 AM - 3 PM, one Sunday every 4 weeks
Team 4 | Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, 2:30 - 10 PM, one Sunday every 4 weeks
Knowledge and Abilities:
- Demonstrated ability to successfully coach and mentor adolescents.
- Assertiveness to learn and continually enhance knowledge and understanding of complex trauma and mental health.
- Good energy and ability to work in all weather conditions.
- Engaging and empathetic character, with the balance of tenacity and determination.
- Good problem-solving, decisiveness, and teamwork skills.
- Proficient in communication and interpersonal-relationship skills.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop close, personal, and emotionally supportive relationships with the students to coach them in their treatment progression.
- Implement clinical treatment plans as outlined by the Treatment Team.
- Ensure that a healthy, comfortable, safe, and caregiving environment is maintained.
- Participate in a wide variety of activities with the students, encouraging and supporting them to develop the skills associated with the tasks (i.e., sports, bike riding, rock climbing, hiking, swimming, etc.).
- Properly use a variety of mediation and intervention techniques to redirect students who need support and guidance during escalated moments.
- Transport the students to and from off-campus appointments and activities using company vehicles.
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 20 years of age or older to apply.
- Physical ability to provide interventions, such as safety holds.
- A valid Driver’s License, and no more than one traffic violation on a driving record in the past three years to be approved to transport students using company vehicles.
- Proficiency and fluency in speaking, understanding, reading, and writing English.
