What are the responsibilities and job description for the COACH | Homestead ($17/hr) position at The Heritage Community?
Spark Homestead is a standalone residential treatment program specializing in autism, located in Payson, Utah. It is tailored to be an all-girls environment, for teens in 9th – 12th grades, helping neurodiverse females to gain self-identity, confidence, and resilience! Besides treatment, we provide a full curriculum, and year-round school as part of helping our students discover a love of learning and confidence in their education. We are accredited by the Utah State Board of Education as a special education school, and utilize instructional pedagogy that is centered on project-based learning.
Spark Academy is a co-ed, residential treatment program for adolescents specializing in trauma, mood disorders, adoption and attachment issues, and similar diagnoses. Students in Spark Academy have faced adverse experiences that have negatively impacted their physical, emotional, and social well-being. We strive to engage our students to connect to their resiliency and empower them to build on that to take charge of a thriving future!

- We are looking for a coach to work on our Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday PM shift 2:30 PM - 10 PM. This shift includes one Sunday a month.
Knowledge and Abilities:
- Demonstrated ability to successfully coach and mentor adolescents.
- Assertiveness to learn and continually enhance knowledge and understanding of neurodiversity and mental health.
- Good energy and ability to work in all weather conditions.
- Engaging and empathetic character, with a balance of tenacity and determination.
- Good problem-solving, decisiveness, and teamwork skills.
- Proficient in communication and interpersonal relationship skills.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop close, personal, and emotionally supportive relationships with the students to coach them in their treatment progression.
- Implement clinical treatment plans as outlined by the Treatment Team.
- Ensure that a healthy, comfortable, safe, and caregiving environment is maintained.
- Participate in a wide variety of activities with the students, encouraging and supporting them to develop the skills associated with the tasks (i.e., sports, bike riding, skiing, rock climbing, hiking, swimming, etc.).
- Properly use a variety of mediation and intervention techniques to redirect students who need support and guidance during escalated moments.
- Transport the students to and from off-campus appointments and activities using company vehicles.
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 20 years of age or older to apply.
- Physical ability to provide interventions, such as safety holds.
- A valid Driver’s License, and no more than one traffic violation on a driving record in the past three years to be approved to transport students using company vehicles.
- Proficiency and fluency in speaking, understanding, reading, and writing English.
