Title : Research Assistant, Asian Studies Center

Reports to : Director, Asian Studies Center

Job Summary : The Research Assistant provides exceptional research and logistical support to the Asian Studies Center (ASC). The Research Assistant is responsible for assisting both management and staff in researching and writing papers, managing and coordinating projects, providing and preparing relevant background information for media hits, and organizing meetings, events, and seminars relating to ASC policy priorities.

Job Duties :

  • Organize and manage internal and external conferences, including invitations, logistics, and accounting details.
  • Provide written materials for ASC Director’s review, including weekly newsletter, social media items, correspondence, and internal reports.
  • Coordinate the China Campaign by scheduling meetings and writing agendas, tracking goals and progress, and collaborating with other relevant Heritage departments.
  • Participate in the public policy community.
  • Provide research for Congressional testimonies and media appearances.
  • Conduct independent research and publish op-eds and co-author policy papers.
  • Assist the Director in administrative tasks, including planning and reserving travel, preparing the budget, tracking expenses against the budget, and submitting expense reports.
  • Assist with donor and development prospect communications and other special projects, as needed.
  • Interview, select, and oversee interns each semester.

Qualifications :

Education : BA / BS preferred

Experience : Some relevant experience

Communication : Strong writing and verbal communications skills; fluency or proficiency in an Asian language preferred

Technology : Microsoft Suite

  • Knowledge of Asia and Asia policy issues.

    The salary range for this role is $50,000 - $56,000 annually. This range is a good-faith estimate, and the final salary offered to a selected candidate depends on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s experience, education, and other qualifications; internal and external market pay for comparable jobs; and level of hire based on aforementioned qualifications.
