We've provided structure and enclosure systems, components, and accessories for virtually every kind of project including corporate, cultural, government, educational, institutional, multi-unit residential buildings, sports stadiums and arenas, retail, industrial, correctional facilities, and warehouse structures.
We are currently searching for an Estimator to join our Estimating Team at High Concrete in Denver, PA
This is a Monday-Friday, 1st shift position working at our Denver, PA location Plant.
The Estimator, working under the general direction of the Manager of Estimating, is responsible to provide accurate take-offs and cost estimates with input from all internal resources, including, but not limited to, Engineering and Operations Departments. Secures appropriate bids from subcontractors when required and assists the Manager of Estimating in preparation of large projects as required.
Essential Job Functions:
- Use of modeling-based programs to create take-off and prepare cost estimates.
- Review scopes of work based upon project drawings, design specifications, production procedures and appropriate addendums.
- Basic knowledge of reading and understanding of project drawings.
- Collaborate with Sales in obtaining all pertinent data per customer’s bid process, regarding projects being bid, i.e., prints, specs., samples, description of project, start and completion dates and competition.
- Collaborate with Sales on all value engineering opportunities as needed or requested.
- Coordinate input from internal resources and/or Manager of Estimating. Use data to prepare bid proposal and/or scope and review it with Supervisor.
- Responsible for proving technical (detailed) input for estimating projects and for the preparation and checking of all estimates completed.
- Prepare estimates for processing when required.
- Provides innovative cost saving strategies and systems in terms of estimating procedures and techniques to maximize output without sacrificing quality but within the budgetary guidelines of the company.
- Manage invitations to bid for subcontractors and vendors to obtain the best possible price(s) and to complete bid estimate on schedule.
- Maintain strong and trustworthy relationships with current subcontractors and vendors and establish relationships with new subcontractors and vendors.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Properly process and file all drawings and specifications after bidding.
- Analyzes and maintains historical labor and material comparisons targeted at a goal of ( /-) 2% on fully developed projects and ( /-) 4% on design build projects estimate to actual. Prepares analysis with recommendations to change appropriate standards on an annual basis.
- Review production/performance reports and use as a guide for future estimating of jobs.
- Attention to detail is critical in this role.

Experience, Training, and/or Education Required:
- Associates Degree in technical field or construction related field preferred
- Basic modeling skills (TEKLA, Revit, SketchUp, etc) preferred
- Basic knowledge of construction and precast concrete with a minimum of two (2) years construction/precast experience or equivalent training with knowledge to apply it in performance of estimating.
- Must be proficient in fundamental mathematics
- Understanding of software products utilized by the company, i.e., Microsoft software, computerized estimating systems.
