We are seeking an experienced Varnisher to join our boat building team in Portsmouth, RI. The Varnisher will perform preparation, paint and varnish techniques to boats and boat parts both interior and exterior. S/he will apply finish coats to appropriate thickness, sand and re-apply successfully.
Responsibilities
- Prepare wood, metal fiberglass or other surfaces for painting and varnishing.
- Tape or protect surrounding surfaces such as decks, hardware, windows during work process.
- Clean sands, and smooth surfaces, using appropriate tools, such as scraper, sandpaper, steel wool or chemicals.
- Applies coats of paint, varnish, stain, enamel or lacquer, as appropriate, to decorate and protect interior and exterior surfaces, trimming and fixtures of boats.
Requirements
- High School diploma or General Equivalency Degree (GED) required
- Knowledge and operation of basic hand and power tools; Sandpapers, paintbrushes, cleaning agents, tapes, grinders, surface sanders, DA and block sanders, polishers
- Woods coursework preferred.
