Overview
Hive Counseling is a growing group practice, currently in Oxford, CT. This position is for a new practice location, opening in Southbury, CT in June 2025.
Meghan Slekis is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Her career began when she founded Connecticut Partnership for Children, Inc. in 2009, in an effort to meet the basic needs of children and their families throughout the state. Her career has continued in school social work for the past decade. She founded Hive Counseling with the understanding that the mind can often feel like a busy hive—buzzing with conflicting thoughts, emotions, and behaviors that need to be understood and balanced. At Hive Counseling, we are dedicated to providing a collaborative and client-centered approach to mental health care. We offer a safe and welcoming space where individuals and families can feel empowered to build resilience. This occurs by enhancing coping strategies, promoting adaptive behaviors, and fostering positive social support systems, all of which play key roles in an individual's healing and well-being.
We specialize in treating anxiety, depression, trauma, and life transitions using evidence-based therapeutic approaches such as CBT, DBT, play therapy, and mindfulness-based therapy. Our team fosters a warm and supportive work environment, ensuring both clients and clinicians feel valued and heard.
Duties
- Conduct individual and/or family therapy sessions with clients.
- Collaborate with clients to develop treatment goals and create personalized treatment plans.
- Provide clinical assessments, case management, and progress notes in accordance with state and ethical and professional standards.
- Maintain client confidentiality and ensure compliance with all legal, ethical, and regulatory guidelines.
- Utilize telehealth or in-person services based on client needs.
- Participate inteam meetings and clinical supervision.
- Attend ongoing professional development and training to maintain licensure.
- Contribute to a collaborative, inclusive, and growth-oriented practice culture.
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Social Work from an accredited program.
- Active Connecticut license - LMSW or LCSW
- Experience providing individual therapy, preferably in a private practice or similar setting.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage a caseload effectively, while being part of a supportive team.
- Knowledge of mental health diagnoses, treatment modalities, and ethical standards.
- Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) and telehealth platforms is a plus, but not required and training will be provided.
