Assistant Controller (Temporary, 6-Month Contract)

ROLE OVERVIEW
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the Assistant Controller will work closely with the Controller and the broader Finance team. This temporary (6-month) role supports the CFO in managing all accounting activities, including financial reporting, internal controls, compliance, and operational efficiencies. The Assistant Controller ensures the integrity of financial data, assists in preparing financial statements, and works to improve accounting processes and systems.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist in preparing accurate and timely financial statements, reports, and presentations.
- Support month-end and year-end close processes to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Help establish, monitor, and enforce financial policies and procedures.
- Coordinate external audits, including documentation preparation and auditor liaison.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial regulations.
- Support budgeting by providing data and analysis to department heads.
- Manage treasury tasks, including bank account oversight and covenant reporting.
- Oversee daily accounting operations, ensuring timely AP and AR processing.
- Maintain and enhance internal controls over financial reporting and transactions.
- Collaborate with internal audit to uphold financial controls and risk management policies.
- Assist with tax compliance and coordinate with external tax providers.
- Attend occasional off-hour events and travel to company locations as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field; CPA or CMA preferred.
- 5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a corporate or public accounting environment.
- Strong understanding of US GAAP and financial reporting standards.
- Experience with financial systems, general ledger functions, and month-end/year-end close processes.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across departments.
- High level of attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, highly organized, self-motivated, and result-driven.
- Ability to attend off-hours events and meetings regularly.
- Ability to travel as needed.
Salary : $60 - $70
