Position Overview:
Our client, a family-owned construction engineering firm based in Boston MA is seeking a Collections Specialist to join our Accounting Team. This role will focus on client collections, accounts receivable, and providing support to the department. The ideal candidate will be a strong communicator with excellent problem-solving skills, making a significant impact on our financial results. This role has potential to grow potential to a managerial role and is a hybrid position (2-3 days onsite in their Boston, MA office).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Establish and maintain professional client relationships to ensure timely payments while preserving customer satisfaction.
- Address payment discrepancies in collaboration with project managers and the Accounting team.
- Send reminders and follow-up notices for overdue payments.
- Review daily accounts receivable reports and coordinate client communication.
- Oversee the collections process to ensure timely payment of outstanding invoices.
- Monitor accounts receivable aging reports and prioritize collection efforts.
- Develop and maintain credit and collections policies aligned with company goals.
- Prepare regular reports on accounts receivable performance and collection progress.
- Negotiate payment plans for past due invoices, ensuring they align with company policies and cash flow requirements.
- Assist the accounting team with ad hoc project requests from management and project teams.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration
- 3 years of collections experience.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Intermediate Excel); QuickBooks Online preferred.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
