Senior Drupal Developer
Our client, a higher education institution in Cambridge, MA, is looking for a Senior Drupal Developer to lead the development, deployment, and maintenance of its web platforms. This role involves managing site enhancements, troubleshooting technical issues, and overseeing a transition to Drupal 10. The developer will work closely with cross-functional teams to improve site functionality, user experience, and performance. This is a hybrid position requiring one to two days on-site per week.
Responsibilities:
- Assess website needs and develop technical plans for new features and improvements
- Lead the design, development, testing, and implementation of web applications and user interfaces
- Optimize site performance and enhance the overall user experience
- Develop and maintain Drupal modules using Pantheon, ensuring seamless integration and system upgrades
- Oversee project timelines, working across teams to align development efforts with business goals
- Collaborate with Java developers to support Java-based web applications when needed
- Perform system updates, software upgrades, and server maintenance to ensure stability and security
- Stay informed about emerging web technologies and recommend tools to improve efficiency
- Contribute to fostering a collaborative, inclusive, and innovative work environment
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent experience
- At least seven years of experience in software development and web technologies
- Expertise in Drupal, including custom theme development and responsive design
- Hands-on experience managing Drupal environments with Pantheon
- Strong programming skills in PHP, HTML/CSS, Ajax, and JavaScript
- Familiarity with version control systems like GitHub and SVN, as well as databases such as Oracle and MySQL
- Experience with Linux/UNIX systems administration
- Knowledge of secure application development practices and web security standards
- Ability to manage multiple projects while effectively communicating with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Experience with Spring Web MVC frameworks and JUnit is a plus
- Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed
