A Cybersecurity Apprentice is responsible for joining a team protecting what matters most to our associates and consumers by securing our sensitive data and critical assets from current and emerging threats. The Home Depot Cybersecurity consists of Architecture, Governance, Identity & Access Management, Internal Threat Operations, Issue and Compliance Management, Risk Assessment/Advisory, Security Consulting, Security Operations and Strategic Planning.
As a Cybersecurity Apprentice, you will be part of a team with more experienced Cybersecurity professionals to help build and grow your skills.
This is a temporary role, an approximate time span of 4-6 months, with potential to grow into a permanent position.
The Cybersecurity Apprentice is an introductory position within the SOC TDR (Threat Detection & Response) team. This apprentice will report to a TDR Manager and will perform tasks including completing the required training for the week, shadowing other TDR analysts during their daily work, analysis of security events, research, and updating TDR documentation.
Learn the basics of Cybersecurity and the processes our TDR analysts follow.
Identify, triage, andprovideremediation advice for security detections and anomalies.
Analyze and interpret data from various sources to advance investigations, quantify trends, or support analyticalfindings.
Leverage technology (commercial and open source) to enrich, triage, and characterize internal insights on malware and Indicators of Compromise (IOCs)
Follow investigative techniquesand automation workflows.
Stay informed about information security trends and technologies in the technology industry and identify best practices and/or methodologies.

Travel Requirements:
- Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.
Physical Requirements:
- Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.
Working Conditions:
- Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
- Must be eighteen years of age or older.
- Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bilingual (Spanish/English)
- Knowledge of information technology domains: server/host administration; network administration.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity domains: network analysis; malware analysis; digital forensics; red team tactics.
- Knowledge of Python or other scripting languages
- Ability to demonstrate effective communication, problem solving, time management, and organization skills.
- Ability to use sound judgement through due diligence.
- Ability to handle sensitive information.
- Ability to establish credibility and build working relationships.
- Ability to read and follow standard operating procedures, processes, and policies.
