What are the responsibilities and job description for the Manager, Visual Merchandising position at The Home Depot?
The Manager of Visual Merchandising is responsible for assisting with design and concept creation for large projects. The manager will lead the visual merchandising development of small-to-medium sized visual merchandising experiences inside Home Depot stores. The manager is responsible for tasks ranging from providing necessary visual merchandising support to guiding new experience initiatives. The manager will develop and maintain project plans and timelines for visual elements. This role is also responsible for balancing art and science. This means data analytics, customer insights, and analysis of the market landscape need to be taken into account when developing the in-store merchandising experiences. The successful manager of visual merchandising will have the ability to deliver on requested projects with the customers' experience in mind. The manager must be passionate about how our customers shop both in our stores and online, both now and in the future and willing to advocate for ideas that solve legacy and emerging customer pain points. Cross-functional partnership is an absolute requirement for success in this role. Ability to partner closely with In-Store Environment's Planning and Space departments, Store Operations, Merchandising Execution Team (MET), and multiple outside agencies.
MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- 20% Plan, coordinate and execute merchandising initiatives for merchandising departments, PRO, At Home Services,
- 20% Analyze performance of online content and placements, optimize and make improvements as necessary
- 10% Conduct competitive research and benchmarking among other retailers - including online and in-store walks.
- 10% Drive site improvements to completion by coordinating with project managers, merchandising partners, designers and editors - including new functionality, taxonomy and rich media tools
- 10% Partner with cross-functional teams (marketing, search, affiliate, email, signage) to drive merchandising offers and compelling messages via those media channels.
- 10% Partner with online content team to develop new media to enhance the category shopping experience including buying & project guides, product & how-to videos
- 10% Collect assets (images, copy, video, etc) required for building and maintaining online category experiences, tools.
- 10% Work with Online merchants to develop marketing contacts at major vendor partners and develop working relationships allowing the sharing of meta data, vendor backlinks and other marketing content. NATURE AND SCOPE This position reports to the Sr Mgr or Director, homedepot.com No associates report to this role on a permanent basis, but requires the technical leadership of a project work team: may select team members and assess capabilities, provide technical training, provide information necessary to meet work, project or program objectives, evaluate program or project performance. - ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 5 yrs experience in retail online or multi-channel role
- Deep knowledge of multi-channel marketing strategies, channels, technologies, principles and processes
- E-commerce knowledge and experience
- Strong analytical skills with demonstrated financial and business planning skills

- Strong leadership abilities and experience in managing cross-functional work relationships
