Art Design & Basic Computer Technology Teacher (Certified)-Bonus Eligible

This position is eligible for an up to $5000 sign-on bonus! The Home for Little Wanderers seeks a Certified Art Design & Basic Computer Technology Teacher at the COVE School in Plymouth, MA, working with the Principal and with a dynamic team of motivated educators to integrate social/emotional learning and a community-building approach to student-centered education. How You'll Be Making a Difference Develops lesson plans, activities, and assessments that promote active learning and differentiates lessons to a variety of learning styles and modalities. Provide a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities and prepares reports on student progress and development. Provides individualized academic instruction in a core subject to students of wide-ranging academic skill levels. Assists in planning and implementation of individualized educational programs for assigned students. Establishes and communicates clear objectives for all learning activities in collaboration with an interdisciplinary teaching team. Encourages and monitors the progress and development of individual students and uses information to adjust teaching strategies. Participates in all aspects of school community, including project-based learning, celebratory events, and restorative justice practices. Maintains current knowledge of the facility/agency’s behavior management principles, system, and procedures, including Therapeutic Crisis Intervention training. Participates in application of TCI in the classroom including crisis intervention, use of restraints when required, processing with children during incidents, and teaching and modeling of social and emotional skills and growth. Participates in provided training, professional development, and community-building activities, including trauma-informed care and educator mentorship programs. Contributes as a member of student/client multi-disciplinary teams, provides information regarding the student’s progress in an educational setting and receives multi-disciplinary advice and guidance to facilitate achievement of treatment, behavioral, and educational goals. Meets and maintain liaison with collaterals as required and serves as student advocate. May be asked to teach classes outside primary discipline (computer/technology skills, coverage of art periods, etc.) Provides monitoring and coverage as needed in the program, which may include monitoring of lunch, recess, halls, and/or chaperoning on field trips, etc. Qualifications Massachusetts Educator Licensure highly desired. Associates degree and knowledge in field of designated assignment or subject (such as art, vocational training, computer science, etc.) required. Completion of MTEL/VTEL required. Previous classroom experience required and experience with special education and program specific population of children is highly desired OR 4 years full-time employment in the industry.
