Position Overview:
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated American Sign Language (ASL) teacher to join our homeschool resource facility. This part-time position will involve teaching ASL to students at the primary and secondary education levels, with minimal prep required. The teacher will work one day a week for one hour, providing an enriching learning experience in a supportive, inclusive environment. Ideal candidates will be patient, loving, and experienced in working with students of varying abilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach ASL to primary and secondary students (entry-level to Level 2 proficiency).
- Prepare and deliver age-appropriate lessons, activities, and practice opportunities.
- Foster a positive, engaging, and supportive learning environment.
- Maintain clear communication with parents or guardians regarding student progress and needs.
- Follow and adhere to the school's code of conduct, rules, and policies.
- Be present onsite for 1 hour of instruction per week.
- Collaborate with other educators and staff to support student learning.
Requirements:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (entry-level to Level 2).
- Ability to effectively teach and engage primary and secondary students.
- Patience and a nurturing attitude, with a willingness to work with students of varying abilities, including those with learning challenges.
- Previous teaching or tutoring experience, particularly with homeschool students, is highly preferred.
- Must pass a background check.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- A genuine love for teaching and working with children in a homeschool setting.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous homeschool teaching experience.
- Experience working with students who have special needs or challenges.
