Overview
We are seeking dedicated and passionate substitute teacher to join our educational team who can also transport students from our Hurleyville campus to their school in Glen Spey and back in our school van.
As a Substitute Teacher, you will play a crucial role in maintaining a positive and productive learning environment with the guidance of the classroom lead teacher. You will be responsible for delivering lessons, managing classroom behavior, and ensuring that students continue to engage with their learning objectives. This position is ideal for individuals who have a strong background in education and a commitment to fostering student growth.
As the shuttle driver, you will provide safe transportation for those students assigned shuttle seats. The shuttle is a Ford Transit, and beyond a valid Driver's License, no additon license sor certifications are needed to drive the shuttle van.
Duties
- Driving students from our Hurleyville campus at 7:50am to our Glen Spey campus, assisting in the classroom till 3pm, then driving shuttle students back to the Hurleyville campus for a 3:50pm pickup.
- Assisting the implemention lesson plans provided by the lead teacher to ensure continuity of education.
- Manage classroom behavior and maintain a safe and respectful learning environment.
- Engage students in learning activities and encourage participation.
- Provide support in literacy education, focusing on reading and writing skills.
- Assist with curriculum development by providing feedback on lesson effectiveness.
- Utilize effective classroom management techniques to handle diverse student needs.
- Support students’ individual learning goals.
- Foster an inclusive atmosphere that respects diverse backgrounds and learning styles.
- Collaborate with school staff to ensure the smooth operation of daily activities.
Experience
- Prior experience working with students in an educational setting is preferred.
- Familiarity with literacy education practices is advantageous.
- Experience in curriculum development or instructional design is a plus.
- Background in tutoring or providing individualized support to students is beneficial.
- Knowledge of Montessori methods or similar educational philosophies is desirable.
- Strong understanding of childhood development principles and classroom dynamics.
- Proven ability to manage classrooms effectively while promoting positive behavior.
