Job Description
The Homestead is a destination resort located on the shore of Lake Michigan within the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. It is in the area chosen by the viewers of Good Morning America as the "Most Beautiful Place in America." Its grounds and gardens have inspired guests for generations. As a grounds crew member, you will be responsible to work not as an individual but as a team member to constantly improve your skills, do quality work, and provide exceptional results to ensure that the grounds and gardens continue to inspire our guests. Essential Responsibilities
· Participates in the upkeep of lawns including mowing, edging, trimming, raking, sweeping, and removing clippings to enhance aesthetic appeal.
· Participates in the upkeep of gardens including weeding, planting, barking, fertilizing, and dead heading to maximize growth, color, and aesthetic appeal.
· Participate in the maintenance of roads, parking lots, walks, steps, and other hardscape to enhance aesthetic appeal.
· Assists in the operation and maintenance of the irrigation system to ensure optimal hydration for the plant materials.
· Operates and maintains groundskeeping equipment such as mowers, tractors, and utility vehicles in a safe and responsible manner.
· Communicates effectively with the management team to address any issues including inappropriate behavior or improvements needed.
· Maintains the workplace at a level of cleanliness that creates a pleasant, safe, and accident-free environment.
· Follows established policies and procedures.
Required Qualifications
· High school diploma
· At least 18 years of age
· Valid Michigan driver's license
· Able to pass a background check and substance abuse test
· Favorable references from previous employers if any
· Previous experience in grounds maintenance, golf course maintenance, landscaping, or related field is preferred.
· Ability to operate and maintain groundskeeping equipment.
· Physical fitness and stamina for outdoor work in various weather conditions.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $16.36 - $18.00 per hour
