What are the responsibilities and job description for the Employment Academy Assistant position at The Hope Center for Kids?
HOURS
Monday-Thursday 2:30-7:00pm; Friday 2:30-6:30pm
PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
The Hope Employment & Learning Academy (HELA) Program Assistant supports the physical, emotional, and spiritual development of all HELA Program members (9th-12th grade). The HELA Program Assistant thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys working with school-aged children. All Program Assistants will be trained in Common Sense Curriculum and are expected to follow this model when interacting with all members.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrates professionalism when dealing with confidential information
- Ability to address and resolve conflict with respect and patience
- Ability to work well with a diverse team of staff and volunteers
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Must be at least 21 years of age
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support the implementation of the HELA program including, lesson plans and curriculum, goals and objectives, and daily program
- Follow all activities scheduled on the program calendars
- Assist in facilitating employability training workshops and Bible study for members
- Support members during daily Academic Success Time; assisting with homework as needed
- Participate in social and life skills trainings with members integrating social skills into daily programming
- Work with Program staff to plan field trips and special events for members
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for staff, members and volunteers
- Other tasks as assigned
