The Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) specializing in substance abuse plays a vital role in assisting individuals undergoing treatment for substance abuse disorders. Working closely with a multidisciplinary team, the BHT provides compassionate support, monitors client behavior, implements treatment plans, and helps create a safe and therapeutic environment conducive to recovery. The BHT's commitment to client well-being and their understanding of addiction dynamics are essential in fostering positive change and empowering individuals on their journey to sobriety.

Responsibilities:

  • Client Support and Supervision:
  • Establish rapport and maintain a supportive relationship with clients, demonstrating empathy, respect, and understanding.
  • Observe and monitor clients to ensure their safety, physical well-being, and adherence to treatment guidelines.
  • Assist clients in navigating daily activities, including medication management, meal planning, personal hygiene, and recreational pursuits.
  • Provide transportation for our clients, including transport to and from our facility. Transport clients to outside activities.

Crisis Intervention and De-escalation:

  • Identify and promptly respond to behavioral or emotional crises among clients, applying appropriate de-escalation techniques and crisis intervention strategies.
  • Follow established protocols for emergency situations, such as suicidal ideation, aggressive behavior, or medical emergencies, ensuring the safety and well-being of clients and staff.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records, documenting observations, progress, and any incidents or noteworthy events.
  • Prepare reports and participate in staff meetings to communicate relevant client information, treatment progress, and concerns.

Education and Support:

  • Educate clients on substance abuse-related topics, recovery principles, and life skills that promote healthy coping mechanisms and personal growth.
  • Support clients in accessing community resources, such as support groups, vocational training, or housing assistance, to enhance their recovery journey.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, or a related field is a plus. CADC Interns are encouraged to apply.
  • Prior experience working in a behavioral health or substance abuse treatment setting is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of substance abuse disorders, addiction dynamics, and familiarity with evidence-based treatment approaches.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to establish rapport and communicate effectively with clients, families, and the treatment team.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism and emotional resilience when faced with challenging situations.
  • Excellent observation skills, attention to detail, and the ability to follow established protocols and guidelines.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Willingness to adhere to ethical standards and maintain confidentiality in accordance with legal and professional guidelines.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $22.00 - $24.00 per hour
