JOB SUMMARY:

This position will demonstrate the skills needed to inspect, diagnose, and solve problems with machines or
building operations; perform basic repairs and implement preventative measures to ensure equipment
longevity and functionality.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Performs all job responsibilities in alignment with the mission and vision of the organization.
  • Performs other duties as required and completes all job functions as per departmental policies and procedures.
  • Maintains current knowledge in present areas of responsibility (i.e., self-education, attends ongoing educational programs).
  • Attends staff meetings and completes mandatory in-services and requirements and competency evaluations on time.
  • Wears protective clothing and equipment as appropriate.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • May be exposed to high noise levels and bright lights.
  • May be exposed to limited hazardous substances or body fluids, or infectious organisms.
  • May be required to change from one task to another or different nature without loss of efficiency or composure.
  • Periods of high stress and fluctuating workloads may occur.
  • May be scheduled as needed including overtime.
  • May be required to stay at or return to work during public health incidents and/or emergencies to perform duties specific to this classification or to perform other duties as requested in an assigned response position. This may require working a non-traditional work schedule or working outside normal assigned duties during the incident and/or emergency.
  • All technicians are required to provide your own hand tools; power tools will be made available by the facility; must be available for on call as needed; have reliable transportation and must be able to respond to the facility in (1) hour or less.

PHYSICAL REQUIRMENTS & DEMANDS:

  • Have near normal hearing: Hear alarms/telephone/normal speaking voice.
  • Have near normal vision: Clarity of vision (both near and far), ability to distinguish colors.
  • Have good manual dexterity.
  • Have good eye-hand foot coordination.
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks/motion.
  • Continuously within shift (67-100%): Standing, Walking.
  • Frequently within shift (34-66%): Bending/Stooping, Pushing/Pulling, Lift/carry up to 20lbs, Lift/carry > 20 lbs. with assistance.
  • Occasionally within shift (1-33%): Sitting, Climbing, Twist at waist, Lift/Carry > 50 lbs. with assistance, Reaching above shoulder.

  • Complies with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices.
  • Communicates the mission statement of the organization.
  • Ensures compliance with policies and procedures regarding department operations, fire, safety, and infection control.
  • Participates in the departments continuous quality improvement (CQI) activities.

EDUCATION, CREDENTIALS & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Three years of general building maintenance experience.
  • Prior Hospital experience a plus
  • Education is equivalent to the completion of twelfth grade. Course work or other appropriate trades training is highly desirable.
  • Course work, training and demonstrated competency in at least three of these building
    trades:
    • HVAC
    • Electrical
    • Plumbing
    • Framing and Carpentry
    • CMMS systems
    • Building Automation Systems
    • Drywall replace, patch and repair
    • Interior and Exterior Painting
    • Flooring
    • Window Operations and Repair
    • Doors to include fire, smoke, and control
    • Locking Mechanisms to include Electronic Access Control
    • Mechanical Systems (Medical gases, vacuums)
    • Familiarity with tools
