The Facilities Associate’s primary responsibility is to bring dedication, skill, and passion to the upkeep, cleanliness, and maintenance of the Hub campus for staff, guests, and visitors to be safe, motivated, and thriving. The Custodian’s role is critical to the Hub providing a hospitable and functioning trauma-informed environment free of clutter and dirt for guests to find healing. The Hospitality Hub serves people who have experienced discrimination, violence, and other traumatic events. Many Hub clients and guests are healing from trauma related to their marginalization. It is critically important that all Hub team members maintain a hospitable and welcoming environment by remaining calm and kind when clients are feeling frustrated.

About the Role:

The Facilities Associate’s role is critical to the Hub providing a hospitable and functioning trauma-informed environment free of clutter and dirt for guests to find healing.

The Hospitality Hub serves people who have experienced discrimination, violence, and other traumatic events. Many Hub clients and guests are healing from trauma related to their marginalization. It is critically important that all Hub team members maintain a hospitable and welcoming environment by remaining calm and kind when clients are feeling frustrated.

Reports to:
Facilities Manager
Hours: Vary 8:00 am to noon, 9:00 am to 2:00 pm; 5 days/wk (Monday to Saturday)
Pay: Range starts at $15/hour
Benefits: All full-time, regular employees at the Hospitality Hub are offered medical insurance benefits, paid vacation days, paid sick days, and paid parental leave.

Responsibilities:
  • Follows all cleaning policies, protocols, instructions, and schedules
  • Mixes cleaning solutions and chemicals in containers in preparation for cleaning, according to instructions
  • Follows procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power machinery to prevent damage to floors and fixtures
  • Cleans and polishes fixtures and furniture
  • Works with Facilities Managers and work order systems to order supplies and manage maintenance needs
  • Supports Hub Hotel room turnover
  • Maintains a clean and tidy coffee station in the lobby by sanitizing the station and refilling the coffee every 30 minutes (more often during busy times)
  • Takes care of daily spills and messes throughout the Hub Campus
  • Daily cleaning and sanitizing of all bathroom facilities, including toilets, sinks, showers, and mirrors
  • Restocks necessary items, such as soap and paper products
  • Waters plants, sweeps entry areas, cleans glass doors and windows at entrances
  • Keeps building and property in clean and orderly condition
  • Sweeps, mops, scrubs, or vacuums floors
  • Gathers and empties trash
  • Dusts furniture, walls, and equipment

Requirements:
  • 1 year experience as a custodian, janitor, or a similar role
  • Detail-oriented and conscientiousness
  • Knowledge of standard cleaning methods and procedures
  • Ability to stand, walk, and bend for many hours
  • Ability to perform repetitive motion for long periods
  • Experience with using cleaning equipment, including vacuum cleaners, floor buffers, and cleaning solutions
  • Background in handling, mixing, and using cleaning chemicals
  • Knowledge of occupational hazards safety rules
  • Ability to lift heavy objects, climb ladders, and work at particular heights
  • Understanding of safety protocols such as disposal of chemicals and other hazardous items
  • Comfortable with basic landscaping and maintenance tasks
  • Able to work 8 hours on your feet and lift up to 30 lbs
