Cornerstone Hospitality is a boutique hotel development and management firm, based in Williamsburg, Virginia, which operates both branded and curated boutique hotels throughout Virginia as well as Delaware, Indiana, Louisiana, North Carolina and Vermont.
The Hotel Monroe is opening soon and we need you now! Located in Downtown Monroe, The Hotel Monroe is a member of the Tapestry Collection by Hilton, a collection of independent hotels with an authentic connection to their destinations. Situated along the river in a historic Opera house and Hardware store, The Hotel Monroe and its restaurants have been thoughtfully designed to provide an authentic experience of Monroe. The property will provide 68 luxurious guest rooms and suites, Heirloom Restaurant, The STAR Bar rooftop restaurant and banquet space to accommodate 250-500 people throughout the second and third floor meeting rooms and Opera Ballroom.
As Banquet Manager, you will play a vital role in bringing special events to life! You’ll partner and coordinate with all necessary departments to ensure each banquet aligns with The Hotel Monroe’s initiatives and enhances guest experience. You will supervise banquet staff in the execution of set-up as well as oversee the service and break-down of functions in a safe, accident-free manner.
Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Coordinate with banquet staff all set-ups, changes and time schedules for functions.
- Train and supervise staff to maintain high standards in food service and hospitality.
- Work closely with the Banquet Chef and other departments to ensure all aspects of the Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) are updated, coordinated and executed seamlessly.
- Serve as the main point of contact for clients as needed throughout the function.
- Be knowledgeable of the menu for each function and be able to explain the major ingredients and preparation method for each item to be served.
- Maintain a well-stocked inventory of banquet supplies and manage orders as needed to meet event demands.
- Inspect banquet areas at end of function to ensure all equipment is returned to its proper area and all areas are clean.
- Manage labor costs through monitoring systems while maintaining and adjusting personnel schedules for the banquet team.
- Set and uphold service standards for the banquet team, ensuring a high level of professionalism and consistency in all events.
- Serve in banquet position capacity as needed based on business volume and as needed during events.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high service standards.
- Open to a flexible schedule of days and times varied based on need.
Qualifications and Skills
- Proven experience in staff training and management within a banquet or hospitality setting.
- Strong background in food service and kitchen management.
- Excellent supervisory and team management skills.
- Knowledge of catering and bar service, with fine dining experience preferred.
- Experience with POS systems.
- Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school or any other combination of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- All associates must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S., pass background screening and references checks.
