SWIM INSTRUCTOR JOB DESCRIPTION
In this position the Swim Instructor will lead or co- lead swimming related classes. Depending on background, experience, and certifications, they may be given the opportunity to teach children’s private lessons and group lessons, or they may only teach classes within the scope of their background and experience. Instruction must be conducted with safety as a priority. Swim Instructors must be self-motivated, organized, communicate well and be willing to do whatever it takes to build relationships with our membership. Swim Instructors will be required to assist at department events (even on some holidays), and attend Aquatics, Club and Company meetings.
Qualifications
Current Water Safety Instructor, YMCA Swim Instructor, Swim America or equivalent USS coaching experience CPR and First Aid Positive and friendly attitude Entrepreneurial spirit – The pay is commission based Patient and supportive Innovative and enthusiastic teaching ability Very organized
To perform the duties of this position successfully, an employee is required to execute the essential functions of the job. This job requires extensive work in an outdoor environment. Employees are expected to take proper precautions to protect themselves from the elements. Swim Instructors will be required to work in a very fast-paced and ever-changing environment where here there is high volume traffic. This position involves being in the pool for an extended period of time.
Physical Requirements
Employees must have the ability to lift items up to 50 lbs. Other related tasks might be performed as necessary to accomplish operational goals.

Qualifications
- Superior communication skills with prompt responses
- Speaks English fluently.
- Prior customer service experience preferred
- Ability to read and perform verbal and written instructions
- Possess computer skills
- Service the member’s needs with genuine care.
- Ensure the safety of the children participating in a class before, during and after sessions.
- Arrive on time to set up a class area and greet members prior to the class.
- After your classes, ensure the pool area is clean and organized and equipment is put away.
- Keep accurate and detailed client histories, lesson plans and course records.
- Provide time sheets that are accurate, complete, and turned in by the deadline.
- Provide organized programs that are safe, innovative, and incorporate the most current ideas in the industry.
- Communicate and respond in a timely manner (within 24 hours) to members and manager requests.
- Report problems and potential hazards to the Head Lifeguard, Aquatics Manager or Aquatics Director immediately.
- Maintain current certifications. If a certification lapses, you will not be permitted to work.
- As part of the Aquatics Team, you will be expected to assist during emergencies.
- Contribute to the safety and security of the pool areas by reporting unusual behavior or suspicious behavior.
