Job Summary
The Bartender offers, prepares, and serves beverages and food to members and guests. The bartender will greet members, learning about their preferences, answering questions, recommending menu items, providing an exceptional dining experience. The bartender is required to be knowledgeable in mixology and service, have a positive and engaging personality, keeping a professional appearance and performance.
Responsibilities
Greets and welcome members and guest
Reads and listens to determine beverage preferences, making recommendations and taking drink orders
Informs members about new beverage additions and specials
Selects and mix ingredients, garnishes glasses, and serves beverages under standard recipes
Performs under the State by law requirements for serving alcohol
Takes inventory and order supplies to ensure bar is well stocked
Adheres to proper alcohol handling, sanitation, and safety procedures. Maintain appropriate dating, labeling, and rotation of all beverage items.
Develops new cocktails recipes
Processes orders, payments, and charges correctly
Must be passionate about hospitality, food, and have menu knowledge. Able to describe all menu items, helping people have a great dining experience
Must be able to identify food allergies and make proper recommendations.
Must be able to recommend food pairing with wine.
Must ware assigned uniforms. Must be clean and pressed with their own name tag
Bartenders are responsible to do their closing shift report as well as duties.
Knowledge and Skills
Must have ability to perform daily work at a high level of accuracy.
Must have alcohol beverages and wine knowledge.
Must be able to take direction well.
Must keep attention to detail.
Must feel comfortable memorizing orders and specials.
Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Must have professional appearance and behavior.
Must have interpersonal communication skills.
Must have proficient technology skills on the POS system.
Must be able to multitask without getting flustered.
Must perform all the duties and responsibilities in a safe manner.
Education and Work Experience:
High School Diploma is preferred.
Minimum two years previous bartender experience in a fine dining restaurant
Must be 18 years of age and with current T.A.B.C. certification is preferred.
Work Environment:
Must be able to work in a team atmosphere in hot, humid and inclement weather conditions.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to walk, stand and bend for long periods of time and work in hot, humid and inclement weather conditions.
Must be able to serve drinks with cocktail tray.
The hours of work vary depending upon business.
Must be able to push, pull and lift 30 lbs. or more.
Must be able to see and read a computer screen and printed matter with or without vision aids.
