The Assistant Swim Coach heads up the programming, head coaches at all swim practices, attends and runs swim meets, coordinates a parent’s group and other events related to BlueFins. Coordinates with the Aquatics Director and Youth Swim Coordinator to plan, administer and communicate regarding programs. This coach will also continue to develop and build our Dolphins Fitness Swim and AquaEdge Swim Clinics and coach some of the SwimFit classes. In addition, the Lead Swim Coach contributes to various forms of media such as e-Newsletter articles and social media. This role includes overseeing and ensuring the proper maintenance is done on pool area features relating to competitive and lap swimming (including but not limited to synching the pace clocks when needed, or assisting with moving lane lines, ensuring all swim gear is organized and stored at the end of a class). This position requires work on summer holidays and on weekends (depending on the classes being coached). Attendance at all team meetings, staff meetings, company meetings and attendance at department events is expected.
Qualifications
To perform the duties of this position successfully, an employee is required to execute the essential functions of the job. This role requires extensive work outdoors year-round. Employees are expected to take appropriate precautions to protect themselves from the elements. Employees in this position will be required to work in a very fast-paced and ever-changing environment, where there is high volume of traffic. This position involves also standing for an extended amount of time and very long working hours at times.
Physical Requirements
This position requires the ability to move and lift items located inside and near the pool areas weighting up to 50 lb, squatting, bending over, and lifting with extended arms. Other related tasks might be performed as necessary to accomplish operational goals.

Qualifications
- CPR, First Aid. Water Safety for Swim Coaches (Red Cross) or ASCA Swim Coach Level 2, preferred
- Proven swimming performance at the national level (D1 or D2 Collegiate)
- A minimum of three years’ teaching and team coaching experience
- A minimum of two years coaching and teaching Adults
- Management experience
- Speaks English fluently
- Positive and friendly attitude
- Very organized, good at planning and communicating
- Mindset for delivering superior customer service and programming
- Eye for cleanliness
- Eye for children’s safety
- Possess computer skills
- Strong writing and math skills
- Ability to read and perform written and verbal instructions.
- Keeps the Pool Areas clean and organized.
- Develop and execute safe, well-organized programming that incorporates the latest in swimming theories and techniques.
- Coaches a minimum of 4 hours per week SwimFit classes on schedule.
- Provides back up when needed.
- Coaches swim practices and swim meets for BlueFins (Mid-March through June), AquaEdge week-long clinics (July), Dolphins Fitness Swim (July – Mid-March)
- Ensures the safety of all program participants before, during and after practices and events.
- Assists with guiding Assistant Swim Coaches during practices, at meets and events.
- Service the members needs with genuine care
- Assists Aquatics Director by reporting if any program-related features or equipment are not in optimal working order.
- Contribute to the overall security of the pool areas and safety of the members by observing and reporting suspicious or unusual behavior.
- Write articles and develop video clips for newsletters, social media and websites.
- Assist in development and maintenance of contact lists for programs.
- Report problems and potential hazards to the Head Lifeguard, Aquatics Manager or Aquatics Director immediately.
